In preparation for the iPad release, I finally broke down and picked up a slingbox. I have a TV in the basement with an HD directv tuner so I figured this would be a perfect spot for the device.
Installation was relatively easy, the HD model only has ONE HD input, so I connected the directv DVR via the component cables, My Roku connected via S video. I connected the slingbox to the internet via an Apple Airport express (802.11n). After a bit of tweaking, everything works extremely well. The configuration online was relatively easy and I'm amazed at how well the iPhone app works.
No HD support for the standalone player for the MAC, but I Prefer to watch via their Safari plugin which has a fantastic interactive program guide (click on the program listing and the slingbox automatically changes the channel) and I believe the safari plug in is HD.
All in all a great product and can't wait for the iPad version

I received my Slingbox Pro-HD last week. I hooked it up at work first since we have a faster upload speed there but could not get it to work outside of work due to firewall issues which I am still working on with our IT person. So I took it home. I had to reset the box and then it worked great. I hooked it straight to my cable and got basic cable but not all our channels due to encryption of some. I can watch TV on my IPhone 3GS now without choppiness as long as I have at least two bars of 3G cellphone coverage. With one bar the video and sound get a little choppy. With a desktop at work I get good SD video and sound due to the limits of my upload speed at home. Then I hooked it up with the cable box and now I get all our channels. Now I just have to get our local cable company to increase the upload speed and I should be able to get HD over the internet. It is great to be able to watch sports anywhere on my iPhone.Customer Review: Good and useful product

This is very useful product, because majority of TV program does not require lots of attention, so it is good to watch it on computer, while doing something else. I have not tried connection over Internet, but picture quality on local network is very good. It was very easy to set it up. I had to replace composite cables with the one of better quality, but as the most of video products come with component cables that pick up interference, this was not a surprise. What I did not like is lack of the HD standalone player on Mac Os X (there is a web based version that works good, but I liked windows standalone player better, there is mac os x player, but it does not support HD). I am disappointed with the lack of close captioning, I am no expert, but I cant get CC on my TV with 1080i output, so it might be some common issue. Recording is not supported, but that did not surprise me at all.Customer Review: Excellent product

The Slingbox HD Pro is awesome. I've read the reviews and some people were having problems and customer service sucked or couldn't reach them. Well let me tell you its not that hard to hook up and I had to call customer service for one thing (I didn't install the RF blaster correctly)and she was helpful and very knowledgeable about the product. The box works perfectly there is a little delay with the remote I assume its because the signal has to travel far. It works very well with a computer with a lot of ram and an HD monitor and not so good with a slow computer although still watchable if the video quality selector is set to low. There is no HDMI output but the composite video connection works just fine. The only thing I would have liked was to have an adjustable picture size there is only regular and fullscreen other than that it is a terrific product. Great box. Easy to set-up (only one "tricky" thing, set up port forwarding) but for the rest its easy. It works well. My quality is fine but it's related to my upload bandwidth and my composite cable. Pretty sure it can be improved with a better upload stream and a better choice of cables. Nice software. iphone/ipod touch app works great. So fun to change the channels with one finger. The slingbox works for me in France and in Ireland (I'm slinging in the rain). Very satisfied. Customer service seems fine as well. One question and one correct and prompt answer. btw if you're in Europe, you dont need to change the a/c adapter (it covers 100V~200V). I love this box. Too bad there's no hdmi input/output but component should be fine.
