I highly recommend this unit. It is great for travel especially or if you're somewhere where you want to have direct access to your cable/satellite or you're DVR.
I use this mainly on my Palm Treo 700p when I am away from a television when you're in need of catching a DVR event like the news or a ballgame . Or how about when you're at the airport during a layover you can catch whatever you have recorded on you're TV. I was at the airport during the national championship for college basketball so it came in real handy to catch the game from the freedom of you're phone.
I also have this installed on my laptop so anywhere I go I can access my cable box as well although I don't use this as much but occasionally it does come in handy.
Installation is real simple. They have a install wizard that will configure you're router for you so it's nearly impossible to screw up.
At the latest prices they are offering this for it's a steal and I would highly recommend it.

I have only been using this product for a few days, but so far it has been flawless. I have accessed it both locally via my local area network (LAN)and remotely. Of course it works better when you are viewing it on a computer in your home. I have a 19" flat screen, viewing it full screen is about 8/10 in my opinion, pretty good actually. Remotely is a slightly different story, I usually watch it in a window which would be equivalent to about a 6-8 inch screen and it is 7.5/10 quality. Remotely I stream at about 400 kbps and it is very acceptable in my opinion. I have Dish Network with a DVR model 625. I can do exactly everything I do at home. There is a little lag when changing the channels and using functions on my DVR, but I'm not complaining. I would recommend this to anyone!! I work at a facility about 30 miles out of my home town and I have searched for programs and websites for over a year to watch tv shows and sports, I have found some, but now I have full control over what I watch. This is a great product. I bought the AV model to use with my Macbook Pro. The installation was a snap, with the software automatically configuring my Linksys wireless router.
I'm using the AV with my Dish Network DVR system. I took the Mac to work and tied to my home satellite to show the folks what my wife was watching at the moment. Then to lunch were I picked up the wireless from the Cafe across the street and showed the lunch crowd what was on at home. One of the fellows was so impressed that he bought an AV that night and is using it with his Windows PC.
At home we can now take the Mac outside on the deck and watch TV out there, and place the Mac on a counter in the kitchen to watch something without having to turn on the big screen.
It's a great product and for the money spent, is one of the best electronic toys that I have bought in a long time. I can't wait till we go out of town to see how it works in that type of situation.

I bought this product based on the many great reviews and I was not disappointed. I installed the equipment very easily on my home network. The box is fairly compact so it does not take up alot of real estate. The picture quality and control that I get on my laptop is amazing. I access the device while commuting to and from work in NYC. It has made my train ride acceptable even when there are delays. Video quality is execellent when connecting to my wireless g router at home and very good to acceptable depending on location with the verizon aircard that I use while on the train. The sling software constantly attempts to optimize and buffer the signal. We were even able to watch our home TV on our laptop while on vacation in the Cayman Islands simply through the wifi connection at our resort. Next to my Garmin GPS this is the best purchase I have made in the past year. Best part is that there is no subscription costs, once you have the hardware you are done.Customer Review: WOW! This device is amazing. My wife uses it to watch near HD-quality programs on her PC in her home office -- amazing on her 19-inch flat screen monitor. She watches MSNBC and other financial shows while working.
For me, I love it when traveling. I use my Mac and can access my DVR to watch shows I've recorded. Of course, I can also watch live TV. Airplane delayed? No worries. I'll just watch some TV and relax.
Set up was a snap. The box itself is very small -- fits in the palm of your hand. I just plugged it in, connected it to my satellite box, then connected the included ethernet cable from my router to the Slingbox. (There is an option to do this wirelessly, too).
The only tricky part for me was configuring it to work outside of my home network. For this, a call to customer support set things right. Slingbox customer support is excellent.
This product is a must-have if you are a television/movie lover.
