Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Skullcandy Full Metal Jacket Earbuds, 11mm -Metallic BlueCustomer Review: Skull Candy Full Metal Jacket Earbuds Summary: 4 Stars
Really enjoying the headphones. Could be a little stronger on the low end but overall are a very good product for the price I paid. Fit of the earbuds were perfect out of the box for me but for those with different size ear canals, different sized adapters are provided.
Customer Review: Full metal review Summary: 4 Stars
Very well made earphones. I bought these to replace the standard iPhone headphones and the sound quality of the skullcandy full metal jacket surpasses the iPhone's by leaps and bounds.
Customer Review: No inline mic Summary: 3 Stars
These headphones sound good, but it is kind of hard to "Walk and Talk" as stated in the description without a mic. I searched for quite a while for a pair of these at a reasonable price. I guess you get what you pay for.
Excerpt from Product Description...
"Walk and Talk at the Same Time - An aluminum-braided cord comes standard on most colorways, so dish out the abuse. New for 2009 is the addition of a sleek, in-line microphone to the entire Full Metal Jacket line."
All mine has is a volume control. Bummer.
Customer Review: Didn't work for me Summary: 3 Stars
I bought these to use while running and working out at the gym. I returned these because no matter which size/type of fitting I used with them they fell out of my ear while running. However, they stayed put while in the gym. Additionally, the contact noise created by the cord rubbing against your clothes was ridiculous. The sound quality was good but not great as some of the reviews have suggested (highly subjective though).
Customer Review: Don't Last Summary: 2 Stars
I got the silver 11mm Full Metal Jacket earbuds on Christmas 2008 and just this March they broke. I used them 5-6 days a week for listening on the train to/from work and also while running at the gym.
A few things to note...
1. If you're running at any sort of a decent speed, they fall out.
2. The metal wiring, while cool looking, has a clear plastic coating that gets rock solid in cold weather. In those circumstances, the wire won't bend or hang naturally and looks ridiculous.
3. When not using my iPod, I would wrap the headphones around my iPod. (which would be very difficult to do in winter months). That put stress on where the wire and the headphone jack meet. Eventually the plastic coating cracked open, exposing the metal wire. A week or two later, sound in the left ear went out. I would not suggest storing your headphones this way. Though when the cable was rock solid hard, there's really no way of storing it in their provided bag either.
I'm going to go back to Shure. They may not look as cool, but I had them for about a year before they were stolen and they were more durable, stayed in place when running, and had even better sound quality than Skullcandy.
