Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Skullcandy Full Metal Jacket Earbuds, 11mm -Metallic BlueCustomer Review: STIFF cable... Summary: 4 Stars
I own a pair of these and I want to point something out that no one else has...the cables on these are stiff as a board. I have the 11mm set WITHOUT a mic (Mine nicely come apart where the mic usually goes, allowing me to shorten the length)and I don't really know if that makes any difference as to how they are made. Mine are the foil wrapped set and I think all the newer ones are wrapped up like this. Anyway, it's nice to have a set of ear buds that don't tangle but here the trade off isn't worth it. The cables poke out in this big loop while wearing them, so much that it sometimes causes an ear bud to even pop out. The cables don't just hang loosely and out of the way and it's quite annoying. Heaven forbid it's cold outside which makes it even worse!
Sound quality is nice with these but I take my MUCH CHEAPER Skull Candy Ink'd set with me 95% of the time because they feel better and don't get all in the way of everything. (In fact, while we're at it, those Ink'd model are easily the best bang for your buck, hands down. I've used the entry level Jbuds, Creative's, Ifrog's and Sony's and the Ink'd kick them all. You can usually find them here for 10 bucks or so too...great buy for an inexpensive knock around pair. They sound great and are cheap enough to beat them up...
I recently bought a new iPhone 3Gs and needed a new set of headphones that also have a mic. If it weren't for the stiff cabling on the FMJ's I would have quickly bought a new pair that have the mic. Instead I bought a new pair of VModa's and they sound amazing, have a great mic, have a cloth/rope-ish cable that sets down and stays out of the way, and were also cheaper than some more FMJ's.
Customer Review: Best bass I have heard Summary: 4 Stars
Having been a bassist for most of my life I am extra critical when judging a products ability to reproduce low frequencies accurately.
I found these buds to be excellent in that department. I also have the Sony MDR-EX90 and Vmoda bass freqs and the FMJ's have better bass than those despite what you may read on other reviews. What I did not like about them was the nasty stiff wiring they chose to join them together. This needs to be addressed in future versions of this product. I would have given them 5 stars if not for this sub par wiring.
Customer Review: love skullcandies Summary: 4 Stars
this is my 5th set of skullcandy's, i have own the TI's and smokin' buds, but the FMJ are sick. the only reason i gave this 4 stars is because of two things, the blue is lighter than what it shows in the picture and this is the 08' model. I sold these to my father in law and bought the new black 09' ones with comply head phones and aluminum braided wire, this makes it so your wires don't tangle up as easy. But the sound is amazing, I compared them to my dad's bose ones and could not tell a difference, love skullcandy looks and quality
Customer Review: rockin earbuds Summary: 4 Stars
I owned a basic version of skullcandy earbuds previously (much more comfortable than ipod earbuds) and when I needed replacements, sought out this brand again. Full Metal Jacket buds are a bit pricey really, but I wanted to try the inline volume adjustment feature and must admit it is convenient.
Customer Review: not what it appaeared to be Summary: 4 Stars
these are good headphones, great sound, but it doesn't have a mic like the description says! i was hoping to use this with my samsung moment but i'll have to pull out my phone and talk through the mic built into the phone. good product overall, only issue is that mic. so just be aware of that.
