Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Silver-Plated HDTV High-Definition TV Component Cable for XboxCustomer Review: First skeptical, then pleased. Summary: 5 Stars
I am very pleased with the product I bought. I looked into this a week ago and saw that some people had one experience and others had another. Maybe it has something to do with which store your item comes from, but I don't know. I ordered the one from Classic Game Source for about $7. It was the one people are talking about that has both the regular composite (yellow) output as well as the hd component (r,b,g). It also has an optional optical hookup for a higher quality audio, although the regular (red and white) cables work great. I didn't have any lines in the picture or anything. On my 32" 720p tv it makes a huge difference. Now bear in mind that you have to go to the video settings on your xbox (found in the msdashboard) and change your settings to widescreen and enable each of the HD resolutions that your tv supports. And even then few of the games are up to 1080i, although there are a good number that are 720p and even the ones that are just standard STILL look a lot better through this cable. Not every game is made for widescreen so you'll have to switch your tv between 16:9 and 4:3 for whichever game your playing but even then the picture is still great. So maybe some of the other buyers just plugged it in and didn't realize you have to change your settings. I don't know about them, but I am very happy with mine.
Customer Review: A must have if you have an original Xbox and HDTV Summary: 5 Stars
Got the cable today, and it works perfectly. However, not all games are truely HD but rather 480p. Not a big deal however, since I was aware of this before I bought the cable. Its still leagues ahead of the stock composite cables in terms of actual video quality. Since you can actually read smaller text and its very sharp.
It was really easy to set up. When you use the cables for the first time, the Xbox will be in 480i. If you go into the settings and then video on the Xbox Dashboard, will see some extra settings. Enable Widescreen if your TV is widescreen and enable each resolution your TV supports. As soon as you start a game, it should go into 480p. Like I said before, not all games for the Xbox are HD capable. So it may or may not appear as widescreen. You will get 480p resolution regardless of the game however.
As far as the cable goes, the build quality is solid and fit nicely in my Xbox. One thing I should point out, is that there is no differentiation between the red audio cable, and the red video cable from what I could see. So, if for some reason, the picture isn't working right, just swap those two cables.
Customer Review: Diagonal lines **Solution** Summary: 5 Stars
To all of you people having difficulties with those darn diagonal lines, read this! I was just
about to buy myself some of those monster cables, being fed up with those lines. But, now I can't see them anywhere!
Every game, every dash, every emulator runs flawless and with the best picture possible :)
What to do:
1. Be sure your xbox is running in NTSC mode. If you have a european xbox download enigmah (google) -> ftp to xbox -> Run it -> press B --> Should say NTSC then exit (press those four buttons or turn off xbox)
2. Now you need to enable HD by starting the xbox with the eject button. Now you either got the msdash or SID's screen up, get to the video settings and here's the solution **ENABLE ALL THE RESOLUTION MODES** Now that you've enabled 480p|720p|1080i save and reboot.
3. -Optional- If you run XBMC enable all the hd modes there too ;)
There you go! Everyone should now be able to use these cheap cables to get excellent picture!
Customer Review: Silver-Plated HDTV HiDef TV Component Cable for XBOX Summary: 5 Stars
These component cables are for the ORIGINAL XBOX, not the Xbox 360.
With that said, the cables appear to be of solid construction. They connect just great and enabled HD on my original Xbox right away. These will work just great on any generation of the original XBOX.
My only gripe is that the cables are not the original Microsoft fare and did not ship in any kind of original packaging. In fact mine arrived in a twist knot in a USPS bubble-wrap padded envelope. There was no sealed plastic casing, no documentation - nothing.
It also appears to have been slightly used.
If none of this bothers you, then go right ahead and get this. It's a pretty good deal for the price.
Customer Review: Simply amazing! Summary: 5 Stars
When I received this product it was way more heavy duty than what I was led to believe in the picture...at least the ones I purchased from classic game source. These babies came with digital audio and wasn't even expecting it! They make my display look crystal clear and the colors just pop. I haven't been so happy with a purchase in a long time. Definitely exceeded my expectations! A bargain and a quality made product. If you have any reservations about picking these cables up, chuck them aside and click buy. One of the better purchases I've made!
