Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of SiliconDust HDHomeRun HDHR-US Dual Networked High Definition Digital Tuner Device (White)Customer Review: best (and only) choice for QAM on MCE (vista and 2005) Summary: 5 Stars
I am completely in awe of this tuner, after fooling around with ATI, Hauppauge, and AVERmedia tuners... This is the only one I found works flawlessly with QAM in vista and 2005 MC. a little bit of reading is needed before setting it up, and every time the cable company changes or adds channels it needs to be reconfigured, but other than that works great. even more amazing, on my 100mb network, 2 hdtv channels recording at the same time and still my network sees no noticeable slowdown. I even have no issues with a gigabit switch on my network... this is hooked into it and is still full duplex and not affecting the gigabit connections performance or conflicting in any way.
in short, totally worth it!
Customer Review: Fantastic device - the future of television? Summary: 5 Stars
This product is fantastic. After receiving the device I literally plugged it in to the cable TV, network and power, installed the EyeTV 3.0 software on my iMac and BAM!! It was working. Beautiful high definition television TV right on my Mac desktop. I cannot fault the device. Yes it is ugly but you can put in a cupboard on on a shelf and never have to look at it again. I really don't understand why Amazon doesn't stock the device. The only downsides that I have encountered are with the Electronic Program Guide for the EyeTV software which actually uses TitanTV. It took 24 hours for it to download the first program guide, and then I had to manually tweak all the stations.
Customer Review: Windows 7 Must Have Summary: 5 Stars
This is the second HDHomerun I purchased and makes four tuners on my network which any PC in the house can use. Windows 7 Media Center (MC) supports up to eight (I heard) tuners and now supports Clear QAM (non encrypted digital cable) signals. Works great with Comcast Digital cable after you scan and use the MC setup for TV - Guide - Edit Listings. Follow the instructions on SiliconDust's web site. Works great for over the air (OTA) ASTC signals I get from my antenna. Windows MC TV guide only supports OTA or QAM at a time but not both together. Silicon Dust has just introduced a CableCard version for encrypted cable signals - can't wait to hear about that one.
Customer Review: TV Everywhere Summary: 5 Stars
Installation was simple. I now have TV on two Windows 7 computers. It works well with Windows Media Center allowing me to record two different programs at the same time. Windows XP requires a third party TV player but that's XP's fault, not the HDHomeRun's. The HDHomeRun comes with a simple preview program that you can use for viewing on XP. I use the HDHomeRun on a gigabit network using over-the-air television signals from an antenna in my attic. The signal runs through two splitters with no loss of quality. I highly recommend the HDHomeRun as it gives you TV on your computers without having to install tuner cards in each one. Fantastic device!
Customer Review: I was leery for a long time but happy now that I tried it Summary: 5 Stars
I have been watching this item for some time and was very hesitant to try it for fear it wouldn't work as promised. Well I finally bought one and it works exactly as promised. In fact I now have 2 units and I'm able to watch tv on all my Windows 7 pc's through media center. I haven't yet tried it on my Macbook Pro so I can't comment on that. The concept of removing the tuner from the PC really blew me away. It makes total sense to have a shared resource directly connected to the network like a printer. I highly recommend this to anyone with clear QAM over cable or decent OTA ATSC reception using Windows Media Center 7.
