Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Shure E2c Sound Isolating Earphones

Customer Review: Excellent earphones!
Summary: 5 Stars

I was kind of hesistant upon buying this, because I usually dislike lodging things deep into the ear canal, and I found the ibud really uncomfortable. However, I saw these earphones on sale at circuit city and decided to buy them. I'm glad I did. They were worth the 100 dollars I paid for them.

Let me just start out with what is included in the package. The package includes the earphones, 6 silicon sleeves, 6 rubber sleeves, and 6 foam sleeves. I personally found the foam sleeves to be the best, and it fit snugly, but it all varies from user to user. The earphones also come with a nice carrying case, which was a lot smaller than I expected. Basically, you put the actual "speaker" in the middle of the case, and wrap the cord around it.

The sound is absolutely phenomenal. I'll go this far and say that it sounds better than the Sennheiser PX100 which I also bought from Circuit City. The speakers could have more clarity, but you've got to spend $300 on a pair of E4c in order to hear clarity. The bass is a tiny bit lacking, but I mainly listen to classical and violin music, so it is ok.

The earphones come in a nice oval package, and the cords are thick and stiff. The earphone actually acts sort of like an earplugs and isolates the outside noise. This can come in handy in noisy places like airplanes and trains where it isn't possible to bring expensive and bulky noise canceling headphones. The headphones actually cancel the noise really well.

For anyone considering buying IEM (in-ear-moniters) and is looking for a cheap (relatively speaking) IEM, than get the Shure E2c. Its an excellent phone to get if you want to upgrade from memdiocore earbuds that came with your MP3 player.

Customer Review: Incredible improvement!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

Now I'm no audiophile but these phones have truly shown me that there is a world beyond cheap ipod earbuds, and those super bassy Sony headphones at Radioshack :P, I mean the bass is a little weak but it more than makes up with for it with the superb quality that brings out at LEAST 3 new instruments that I never heard in almost every song that I have in my collection which ranges from the darkest of Metal and Punk to the most soft melodies and then proceed's to accentuate with a base that oddly fills my head and shakes my insides slightly(kinda creepy yea..:P). All I can say is that these are definitely worth the money if you care about your music but you have to take care of them seeing as the thick cord prevents breeze and outside interference but also makes it easier to snap, however all in all they are a great buy for someone looking to find an improvement in their music and a nice quiet place to study or just relax, however they HURT LIKE HELL the first week cuz the earphones are kinda reshaping the inside of your ears( which wont damage your hearing :P) but they're worth the pain lol...you'll see.

P.S.
These are not meant to be used constantly everyday for 10 hrs a day, but only for when you are on the go, so the best you can do is spend a lil more and get yourself some other decent headphones for your home, so that you won't wear out your shure's to quickly even though its not that big of a deal seeing as you get a 2yr warranty which is a pretty long time lol, and oh yea...I almost forgot to mention the the sound blockage is pretty awesome to the point that even a train right next to me is just a rumble in my body seeing as other senses sharpen up a bit since i temporarily go death :P.

Customer Review: Excellent Sound! I highly recommend E2c!
Summary: 5 Stars

I've read dozens of reviews about this product. Many of which were mixed. Amazon had these as a "daily special" for $40, so I figured, why not? It was a savings of 75% off the retail price.

After having used these for two weeks, I would pay retail price for them! They are that great. It does take a few tries to figure out which ear cushions better suit your ear canal, but once you find the best fit, and you place these in your ears, the sound is AMAZING!!

I found that the better the bitrate you "rip" the music, the better it sounds. And with these headphones, you easily hear quality difference.

I love to listen to classical music and instrumental soundtracks. (Star Wars, Harry Potter, Star Trek, etc...) The music has never sounded better. I listen to music on my top of the line THX Certified Pioneer Elite Home Theater system and I have to say that my music sounds better with these earphones!!

The listener can easily, distinctly, and clearly hear different instruments!

I know there are a couple models of earphones that are above this, and I can't imagine the sound getting any better! These earphones are that good!

And these headphones aren't just for instrumental arrangements. Rock music such as Nickleback, Daughtry, Click Five sound terrific too! And Enya sounds absolutely amazing!!

I highly recommend that you purchase a portable media player that has an equalizer. This will enable you to create a personalized and perfect audio experience!

If you are looking for a set of Earphones that will give you an incredible audio experience, look no further! Buy these. You wont regret it!!

Customer Review: Fantastic Sound, Completely Sound-Isolating
Summary: 5 Stars

These are the best earphones I have ever owned (I've had them for over a year and a half). The sound is fantastic, full and bass-y. They're small and discrete - you place them inside your ear canal (they come with multiple sized fittings included)... these tiny things sound like huge speakers. I use them to listen to my iPod and other portable devices, and when I put them on, I can't hear ANYTHING else. It's truly fantastic - I take the subway to work, and I've had crying babies, arguing couples and all other subway noise COMPLETELY eliminated from my music listening experience. It's like turning up your home stereo so loud that you can't hear somebody banging on your wall telling you to shut off the music.

That being said, (and I know it's been mentioned a lot), you really have to use your eyes when out in public!!!! I was ready to cross the street (on a green light) downtown the other day, and after my first step, I wondered why nobody else was walking with me... then I just caught sight of flashing siren lights and held back. You truly cannot hear anything else if listening to music, so you really do need to be "heads up".

The 2-year warranty is also amazing - 16 months into my ownership, the connection became 'crackly'. Shure was happy to give me a completely new pair for free. On my first day without these headphones (RMA time was 3 days), I bought a pair of $50 Sennheisers as a temporary replacement. The sound was horrible... and most importantly, I forgot what a blessing the sound-isolation is in noisy environments.

Once you go sound-isolation, you can never go back, and these Shure's are a great-sounding pair worth every penny.

Customer Review: Overall, a good buy
Summary: 5 Stars

I rec'd my package today and have been listening for two hours to Beyonce', Coldplay, Disturbed, Incubus, and Bare Naked Ladies, ripped to high-quality variable bit rate mp3's using Roxio Easy CD Creator.

I am using a Creative Nomad MuVo2 4GB player.

So far, I am happy with my purchase - I immediately noticed a positive difference between the E2c's and the stock MuVo buds and some Sony Sport Walkman headphones that I also previously used and considered quite good.

They sound is clean and the bass is fuller. I have found that when I want to listen at loud volume levels, I am turning it up to the same level as when using other headphones. However, at low volume levels, I turn it down farther because the buds do a good job blocking out background noise. For example, as I type this review at volume level 5 on the MuVo, I cannot hear the keyboard click which I normally hear when using the other phones at this level. These things are great for blocking out typical office noise - I sit in a 12 x 24 foot room with 8 other people and 14 computers and two window air conditioners and can't hear anything but the music.

I really like the way the phone-wire-behind-the-ear concept is implemented. If you follow the instructions, you shouldn't have any problems getting these things fitted correctly. One trick I used that deviates slightly from the manual is that I have the music going as I am inserting them - You definitely need a good seal to get the full bass response.

I am still deciding between the small and the medium molded plastic cups - they both fit, just not sure which one will be more comfortable long term.
