Customer Review: Great Sound - Very Comfortable - Solid Investment
Summary: 5 Stars

I was a little skeptical to buy earphones for such an expensive price, but I had heard a lot of hype about them and decided to give it a try... I really was amazed at what I experienced. First off, it has always been difficult for me to fit earphones into my ear, they always seemed to fall out because my ears were too small for them. That was really one of the reasons why I wanted to try these out.

Fit: The e2c's come with three different sizes of rubber and foam sleeves that can really fit almost any ear. I've had the most luck with the foam ones since they really mold to my ear shape. Now, it took me a few days to really get the fit right, but once you get it inserted comfortably, you'll notice that virtually all outside sound is blocked... which is a good thing if you want to omit all outside noise, but bad if you're riding a bike or doing something where you may need to hear ambient noise.

Sound quality: I use these earphones with my 4G iPod, and the sound is really excellent. Most of the music I listen to is dance/trance/house, so I need a solid amount of consistent hitting bass - which the e2c's seem to provide. While the bass may not be super powerful, they provide very good clean bass response. As for vocals and other types of music, you will start to hear your music in a way you've never heard before - I think this is because you get such a solid fit from the e2c's. Another plus: you won't have to turn your music player to as high of a volume as you probably do with your current headphones because they fit so well, the sound is totally blocked from outside and you get a very clear sound.

Value: For around $100, they Shure e2c's definitely aren't cheap, and I know they offer two other models for a steeper price. But here's how I think of it, if you're going to invest in a pair of headphones/earphones - get something that's going to last you and something you'll be happy with. On top of that, Shure offers a 2-year warranty and they'll replace your earphones immediately. So, to wrap it up: if you want headphones that sound great, fit great, and that will last you for years to come - the e2c's are for you.

Customer Review: Best earphones I ever used
Summary: 5 Stars

I am listening to portable music for a long time, and had no fanatism to buy a set of earphones unless I really screwed the original ones from the player.

So, when my iPod earphones were half dead because of using them in harsh cold (outer coating would froze, hence crack easily) and I was forced to buy a new set of earphones (since my backup one, Koss, was terrible with iPod, big dissapointment) I wanted to try "in ear" phones, just to see if it is easier to wear them and what kind of sound quality they'll deliver.

After a search in Amazon, I found out that Apple's in ears were not much reputable. So I was between Sony and Shure. I knew that Shure would be top quality, but I didn't want to pay 100 bucks for a set of earphones. Then I saw that one of the Merchants in Amazon was selling them for 35$ less, and I just found the courage to buy it. The seller was really good, and he sent my order in a few days...

It took me like 25 minutes to figure out how to wear them properly, and when I changed plugs into one smaller size it was a perfect fit. I first played some Apocalyptica in my iPod, damn that was a blast. And the volume was around %70; before I would go up to %95

But adapting to in-ears took some time, since all sound was isolated from me. Its pretty disturbing at first, there is some stuff in your ear and you also can hear blood circulating your body, but once you get used to it, it rocks. I'm using them for over 2 weeks now.

To sum up:

Pros:
-Excellent quality
-Perfect sound
-Fits ear good, no trouble of popping out

Cons:
-Cable is thick (almost x1.5 of iPod earphone cable)
-Splitter is safe, but still thick.
-Jack sometimes gets off the plug when carrying in pocket, not very but moderately sensitive.
-Price, of course..

I was not dissapointed by these earphones, but since I did not try other in-ear options, its wrong for me to compare. All I can say is that these earphones are great and I enjoy using them.

Customer Review: AMAZING I CAN WALK ON CITY STREETS AGAIN!!
Summary: 5 Stars

thank you shure for really professional products. I bought the E2c earphones since I have a problem distinguishing conversation from background noise. Besides noise drives me to a jittery and frantic state which I hate. this is my 5th commercial product for the same purpose but this is the first product to meet my expectations. shure knows how to isolate sound. this is not a marketing slogan. it is a reality. I can walk on a busy seattle street during rush hour and not hear any significant noise. It is amazing. These tiny things I plug in my ears have freed me up to go out at times I would not normally go out. I have tried all the over the ear "noise cancelling" phones ranging from a cheap $10 one to the most expensive. All they do is add some white noise in your ear hoping that this will block out other noise. well, IT DOES NOT WORK PLAIN AND SIMPLE. Shure on the other hand plugs the phones tight in your ear to physically prevent miscellaneous frequencies from getting to your ear drum and beyond and IT WORKS. almost all noise is gone, even when utilities work was going on outside, even when your dishwasher is on, even when your neighbor is mowing his lawn etc... I don't know how to flatter these guys further but this shure product is adequately priced. It is NOT expensive. Bose has a "loud" marketing machine but no real technology to stand on. Shure has the merits and is appropriately quiet and calm in their marketing effort. my kind of company.

Note: some people are reluctant to buy in-ear product fearing it will be uncomfortable. well, shure is mindful of that and they provide you with 18 different shapes and sizes of the plug-in to make sure you find the one that fits your ear size. It took me all of 5 minutes to determine the one that fits me right and from there on it is smooth sailing. I have been using them for over a month now, for several hours on end with minimal to non-existent discomfort.

Note: the part in touch with your ears is easily washable and dries up in a few minutes after which you can put it back on.

Customer Review: Very comfortable; perfect for cutting down external noise
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased these earphones yesterday at a retail store. Before taking the plunge to spend $99 on a pair of earphones however, I researched several websites deciding what might be best for me. My main purpose for buying sound isolating earphones was to use while riding a Harley-Davidson cross-country this coming summer. Cutting down wind and road noise was my number one criteria for purchase.

I'm happy to say, these exceeded my expectations. Although they don't cut down on the loudest of noises, they cut out enough to easily hear the music without having to turn the volume to a high level. I took a 60-mile ride on my Harley this morning and in that one hour, I knew I'd made a good purchase.

They work in a very similar manner to expandable foam earplugs in that they cut down all external noise while pumping near flawless tunes through the small plastic channel into your ear canal. They come with nine types/sizes of attachments: 3 silicone, 3 soft-silicone, & 3 sqeeze foam. All three types come in S, M, L sizes. I tried all three types before deciding on the soft-silicone ones. After just a few minutes of wear, they had softened up enough from my own body heat that I could barely tell they were there.

If you don't like earphones that you must insert into your ears, then these may not be for you. If you do decide to try them out, play around with them and try out all the types and sizes of inserts to see which you like best. I found that if you hold the speaker portion of the earphone up and give it a 1/4 turn to the rear while inserting it, you'll get a near perfect seal that won't easily come out. You'll then have them in the correct postion to loop the cable over your ear.

This was a very good purchase. They work very well and come with nice circular carrying case to wind the excess cable. They also come with 2-year manufacturer's warranty.

If you need to cut out external noise and you want high quality sound with good bass and treble, then these are for you.

Customer Review: These are very good earphones with clean, even sound.

I don't know if I would call myself an audiophile, but I love listening to music. I can't tell you about rolled-off highs or muddy mids but I can tell you that these earphones sound much better than any others I've listened to. I've had the Sony EX-51s (comparable to the EX-71's) and the buds that come with the iPod, and a pair of Sony earbuds (MDR-E828), and an assortment of other "cheapy" type of ear and headphones.

These are worth the money. They reproduce accurate sound and don't need a lot of power. You will hear details that you previously missed with inferior 'phones.

These are canalphones. This means you insert the end into your ear canal. They do not seem uncomfortable, to me anyway, but you might have to get used to them. If you don't get a proper fit then the sound will be marred. The sound depends upon a good seal inside your ear canal, so it's helpful that Shure gives you some alternate silicone and foam sleeves to customize your fit. Take the time to try out the different sizes if they don't fit well or sound wrong. And, read the manual to learn how to fit them into your ear properly.

Once you get them fitted and learn to use them, you will be in love. I use them daily at night when I'm falling asleep. They are so comfortable that I can actually lie on my side while listening to them! I also use them mowing the lawn. However, the sound isolation is so complete that when your music is playing, even at a low volume, you will NOT hear anything else. So, be forewarned. Do not wear these if you need to hear what's going on around you (like driving or bike riding). My wife gets mad sometimes because she has to visually get my attention when I'm in the yard.

Overall I'm very happy with these earphones; so much so that I'm considering buying the more expensive Shures sometime in the future. I recommend these earphones highly. If you love listening to music and want to hear all of it, then the Shure E2c earphones are for you.
