I bought this as part of a Sennheiser gaming headset and after wanting to buy another device of this same type I've seen many negative reviews of similar products out there. I seemed to have been fortunate with mine... the Microphone audio quality and volume is excellent, and the audio output is also top notch.
It also just works on both my Windows Vista Machine and my Macbook Pro. I'm thinking of paying the few extra and getting something I'm not going to be sorry about.
