Customer Review: Tip to Minimize Hiss

I've only had these headphones for a few days, but I'm very pleased with them so far. Initially, I found that there was noticeable hiss in the background when I had the transmitter plugged into the headphone jack on my TV. But when I plugged the transmitter into the audio output jacks on the back of the TV, which provides a stronger output signal, the hiss was reduced to the point where it is no longer an issue. A stronger input to the headphones allows you to lower the volume control on the headphones, which greatly reduces hiss on lower volume audio content. (There is an LED on the unit which alerts you to a low input signal.)
The headphones sound quite good and they're comfortable (for me). They have very good reception in the same room as the transmitter. I was able to maintain good reception when walking around to other rooms, but there was some expected occasional noise. All in all, I'm pleased with the reception since I bought these headphones to eliminate the use of a cord while in the same room.

See J. Hanson's review for the good and bad characteristics of these headphones. I bought a pair of 140s in January (instead of the 130s) because the 140s seemed to meet my needs better.
I live in an apartment and I often work late nights and early mornings at home and want to listen to television or music without disturbing the neighbors. These wireless headphones worked great. Occasionally there is a drop off when I move to another room, but it is bearable given that the alternative is to have 50 feet of wire following me around.
Anyway, I am plenty satisfied, so I bought a second pair for use at the office. Yes, they are expensive, but they are worth it.
Update: July 15, 2008. It's two years later and I'm still using the Sennheiser 140s and loving it. I haven't had to replace the batteries yet and I use the headphones ALL THE TIME. I don't know about other Sennheiser products, but this one meets my needs. No regrets here!

I have a rather severe hearing loss (80%) in my right ear. I really cannot hear the TV at the level my wife feels comfortable with. I had a set of headphones with no balance control and poor RF performance (lost the signal at the far end of my house) and they cut-out quite often. The Seenheiser RS 140's cost a little more, but they're worth it! Super reception anywhere in the house, almost anywhere on my half-acre property! They're very comfortable once I got used to the increased size from my old ones. The BIG plus is now I can adjust the balance and hear with BOTH ears! The charging cradle is WAY more convenient that having to plug-in the phones like my old set. All the other reviews here made up my mind for me and convinced me to go for the extra expense. The complaint of the dials on the back of the right earpiece hitting the pillow or recliner back is a valid one, but not a frequent enough occurance to be really annoying. I have had them for a couple of months now and highly recommend them.Customer Review: best deal for wireless headphones

So, I bought this for my boyfriend who is into high-tech gadgets and he loves these headphones. I had researched many different brands and models and this always came up as the best wireless system for the best price. I also have heard these are better sound quality than bose, so dont think you will miss out on quality. Apparently it is hard to not compromise on the sound quality with going wireless, but dont have to worry about that with this pair. I think the 140 model is better because it has the sealed circumaural (seals around your ears) feature with the way the headphones fit on your ears. You can't hear a thing in the outside world with these on. I have had no problem walking around my entire two bedroom large apartment and wearing these everywhere. I hook the transmitter up to my computer and listen to my mp3's- it turns out this was a present to myself as well as my boyfriend. ENJOY! I'm now buying another pair for my parents for a present for them to listen to music and tv around the house!Customer Review: My Bad...Using them for over a year.

My bad...I should have written this review a long time ago. I have a TV in my backyard and like to sit out and watch it without disturbing neighbors (I live in Los Angeles in the HIlls and sound carries). I did A LOT of research and these seemed to get the best reviews on various websites. 100% bullet proof. I love them and they have worked great. I have a cabinet outside that they are kept in so they have moderate exposure to the elements (lows in the 50s at night and summer time high of 110 (yes 110.) They still work fine. (Quick note, i thought they had actually been damaged when the sound was not working right and was armed to send in under the warranty...only to learn someone else turned down the volume on the TV! They were fine). So long story LONG....they have exceeded my expectations and while I rarely write reveiws, these are winners all day long. I move throughout my house (am in my home office about 50ft away through 2 walls) and wear them while I work so I can listen to News. Enjoy!!!
