Customer Review: If you deal with someone with hearing loss these are for you!!!

I have been looking for a product like this for a long time. My father has hearing loss in both ears but it is worse in his right, so every time we have a family gathering he would have the TV volume up to blaring and then everyone else would scream over the top of the TV. It got to the point where my father would go hide in the bedroom to watch TV because we would complain that he had it to loud. I read alot of reviews and picked these and I am sooooo happy I did. #1 it has dual ear volume controls so he can just turn up the volume in one ear so he doesnt destroy the hearing in his other ear. #2 they completely cover the ear so you barely hear background noise, which is a good and bad thing. For someone like me with decient hearing it is fine I can just barely hear the conversation and pipe in but for someone like my father, he is oblivious and you have to almost get up and waive your hands to get his attention. #3 The are super easy to charge, you just hang it on the little stand and away you go. My father is very happy with them and my family is also very happy that we can hold a converstion without walking away with a headache from the TV being so loud and screaming! I purchased the Sennheiser RS-140 wireless headphones several months ago to get rid of the rat tangle with wired headphones. I have a hearing loss in both ears and typically watch television and listen to music with headphones to avoid annoying the neighbors, so wireless headphones are a much better option since I have more freedom to move about.
I have been extremely pleased with the comfort and sound of the Sennheiser RS-140 headphones. I do not hear any hiss or pop while moving around inside, although I do hear some hiss and dropouts if I am outside several feet away from the transmitter. I have literally worn these headphones all day without recharging them and they remain quite comfortable.
These headphones do have a few caveats, however. I have a neighbor with a wireless device that sometimes interferes with the headphones, although changing channels solves the problem. The balance and volume controls are on the back of the right can so laying on a couch, sitting in high-backed chair, or propping your head against a pillow may inadvertently change either or both controls. Even so, I find having the volume control easily accessible is very convenient.

I am writing this review for my Mother who is hard of hearing and I did extensive research on head phones for her.
We finally bought this pair about 2-3 or so months ago. We are lucky to have gotten a pair of the Sennheiser RS140's due to the fact that they are being discontinued and it is the only pair of Sennheiser's designed for hard of hearing, I am hoping they will release a new model for hard of hearing while these sell out.
My mother can hear sound but often times cannot make out words being said via the TV. Since we got her the RS140's she can hear things very clearly and move about the livingroom without losing contact or sound.
The cup design is enclosed to keep outside sound out and TV sound in and it works flawlessly. Another wonderful feature is that one can adjust the sound for both ears in relationship to hearing loss for each ear.
Sennheiser put a lot of ingenuity and thought into constructing these head phones and I would recommend them to anyone asking. If anything arises negative or positive with these headphones, I will attempt to update this review.

I am a 50 something gal with excellent hearing. I am however married to a man who loves to read each evening while I love to watch my favorite program or DVD. We bought a house in Florida 7 years ago with an open floor plan. Love it for everything but television viewing. My husband ended up trapped in his den trying to ignore the television and I had the sound so low I was missing everything and not engaging in the programs. I bought the headphones after I had bought them for my son for Christmas. He and his wife raved about them in there small home with limited television viewing. They are amazing. It goes without saying that my husband is thrilled. He can finally read in peace. But the real important thing is that for the viewer the sound is outstanding. True movie theater sound which allows you to become immersed in the program with absolutely no loss in sound quality. I can not be the only spouse who guiltily listens to too soft television each night trying not to intrude on my husband. Do yourself a favor and enjoy movies, music and television again. I HAVE A HEARING LOSS AND IT IS HARD FOR ME TO HEAR EVERYTHING SAID ON TV. I CAN HEAR THE TV GREAT WITH MY RS140 HEADSET.
I HAVE TRIED SEVERAL OTHER BRANDS INCLUDING THE "TV EARS" AND THEY JUST DIDN'T WORK. THE SENNHEISER RS140 WORKED SO WELL THAT I BOUGHT 2 SETS. ONE FOR THE LIVING ROOM TV AND ONE FOR THE BEDROOM. NO, I DO NOT WORK OR KNOW ANYONE WHO WORKS FOR SENNHEISTER CO. THEY SOUND GREAT AND I GOT A GREAT DEAL FROM AMAZON.COM. I AM A NEW CUSTOMER FOR AMAZON.COM. THEY MADE A CUSTOMER OUT OF ME WITH THEIR OUTSTANDING SERVICE AND GREAT PRICES.

I have used the RS140 every day since receiving them and I am very happy with them. The sound is great. NO HISSING. I do not find a problem with the controls on the back side when laying my head on a pillow as some people have. They are not heavy either. The only thing that I could complain about is they could have been made smaller, but I can live with that. I love them and all I can say is, "Try the headset and if you do not like it, return it".
