Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sennheiser RS 130 Wireless Surround Sound HeadphonesCustomer Review: Great Buy! Summary: 5 Stars
I got these before Xmas for a special price and ended up buying two sets - one for my husband for Xmas and one for his father for his Jan. birthday. My only complaint about these is the fact that nowhere did it say you MUST have a headphone plug in your t.v. in order for these to work. I tried for hours with every combination of plugging in and re-setting and unplugging to the input/output on the tv and then to my cable receiver box as well as the dvd player. Nothing worked. I kept thinking either they were defective or I was doing something wrong. After a couple hours I went online and found out that you must have the headphone plug in order for these to work. When I tried them on another tv that had the plug they worked great! Unfortunately, the t.v. that my husband watches most of the time is the older set that does not have the plug, but he is planning on buying a new tv soon. Until then, he does use them on the other t.v., as well as when he is working on the computer - either listening to music or otherwise. He said they are very comfortable and have very good sound. They hold a charge for a very long time and the charger stand is very convenient and works well. My husband can now watch loud movies and t.v. without bothering the rest of the family (he tends to have the volume up pretty high) and my kids sometimes use them while playing their video games and they work wonderful for that as well. I am extremely happy that I purchased these and wish I had bought a couple more at the great price I got them at.
Customer Review: Excellent audio and build quality - won't break the bank! Summary: 5 Stars
After buying several pairs and brands of wireless headphones, I almost gave up. I tried infra-red, which were totally useless and full of hiss and static, and RF which were built cheap and made like garbage.
After returning the last pair at Radio Shack, I considered going outside my price range and moving into the $200 range to see if that would improve the quality. The salesperson told me - "don't bother, you'll just return them - everybody does...they all get returned". So I left empty handed. Several weeks later, I Googled "wireless headphones" and came across a very favorable review of Sennheiser. Then I decided to Google Sennheiser, and came across one glowing review after another. Now I recognize the name from about 30 years ago (I was a hard-core audiophile back then) but havn't seen it around for many years. These RS 130's are just fantastic - sound quality is pure greatness, extremely clear, very well made, comfortable...just a great product. Extremely happy with the item - in fact, couldn't be happier I think if I paid 3 times the price. As an aside, several weeks later I was in the market for ear-buds for my iPod for the gym. Couldn't really justify buying one of the 3 big-name popular $100 ones out there...but guess what? Found a sports-model Sennheiser pair at the Apple Store for $35, and the sound quality is superb. Build quality is very high! Once again - a "discovery" by accident - looks like Sennheiser is one of those companies that just plain "gets it right". Highly recommended.
Customer Review: You couldn't ask for better!! Summary: 5 Stars
I was a little skeptical when I bought this nearly a year ago because of the generally bad experiences I kept reading on the user reviews for wireless headphones. I picked on Sennheiser because at that time it seemed to have the least complaints compared to some other brands.
Did not know what to expect, but I had to give it a try because I like my music and sound loud and the whole apartment could hear everything I played on my laptop.
Now almost an year since I got these...
*No problems...I have not had to change anything or yank any wires change batteries etc.
*Great Sound IMO - probably contributing a lot to my inevitable hearing loss, but still great sound until that happens.
*The headphones are comfortable - one of the best pros...I have even on occasioned done aerobics with these on and they fit comfortably.
*Fits on the charging stand without issues.
*Easy volume control on one of the ear pieces - just saying if thats a factor for you.
***Works for a long time without needing a recharge...I don't know for how long exactly and it does turn off automatically when there is no sound being played to save energy, but there have been times when I am too lazy to put them on the charging stand 2 feet away for a few days...and still didn't need to recharge.
If you need a wireless headphone for whatever reason, you can't go wrong with one of these.
Customer Review: Wireless late-night tv Summary: 5 Stars
I have looked for a long time and have done a lot of research comparing peoples ratings. I bought them to hook up to my bedroom tv. My wife goes to bed earlier than me sometimes but I still like to lay in the room with her. I got these headphones for a great price so I couldn't refuse. After charging the battery for 16 hours as suggested, I put my headphones on to try them out. Fabulous. I have walked all over my house and I can hear the tv with no degradation of the signal.
Charging is easy. No lining up just right to charge the batteries. Just hang them on the stand. The Surround leaves something to be desired but that might depend on the broadcast. I will have to try and hook them up to an amplifier to try that out.
They are easy to hook up and comfortable to wear. Maybe a little heavy but it seems that the longer I wear them the less I notice they are there.
It was hard to decide on whether to give these a 5 or a 4. Sound is very good; not great. But for what I bought them for, they are excellent so I give them a 5.
27 Oct 2010: Nearly 3 years later I have to say this thing was a really good buy. I had these things hanging on my headboard and hadn't used them for some time. Thinking the batteries would be dead, I put them on and there they were. I am impressed. I had been in a toss-up between a 4 and a 5 star rating but not anymore. These are a 5.

My apartment mate has Sennheiser RS 120 headphones. I was also ordering the same, but I did some last moment research and found out RS 130 with Surround Sound and Auto tuning feature. Though it costs heavy on pocket when compared to RS 120 but I don't mind paying few extra bucks for more features and better sound quality.
Instantly after opening the pack, my first impression was at the weight of the headphones, they are too light even after batteries inserted. Batteries were charged initially, so I could use them immediately.
I felt heavenly sound inside my ears with surround sound too. Damn awesome quality and quite a good range too.
The only problem with all RF based Wireless headphones is the interference of frequencies i.e. I can hear sound from my friend's RS 120 by auto-tuning my headphones and so do he. No privacy at all!
Pros:
- Great Sound Quality
- Very Light
- Auto Tuning
- 3 channel transmitter
- Wide Range of up to 150 meters
- more than 20 hrs of battery backup after one recharge cycle.
- Surround Sound
- Comfortable cushion pads for ears.
Cons:
- Can interfere with other RF headphones nearby (really hard to overcome this issue in RF based headphones)
- Can be bit expensive, but worth spending.
- Addictive
