Customer Review: One of a Kind, Truly Remarkable!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have been researching and listening to different brands, and types of head/ear phones for the past 5 months. I recently purchased a pair of Maxwell NC-II "noise cancelling" headphones, from walmart for a little under $50. After listening to those for about 5 minutes I was on my way back to walmart to return them. My original ipod ear phones honestly sound better to me then the Maxwell's. I also used to have two sets of Sennheiser wireless headphones and enjoyed them a lot, although I found them to be a bit bulky and not as clean and clear as I would have liked. Unlike the PX-100's which fit perfectly and comfortably, and are very light on your head. I have been reading reviews on Amazon for headphones for months and I finally decided on the PX-100's, especially for their price and lack of negative reviews! I decided to give them a shot. I am so glad I did because I simply LOVE my PX-100's. I have nothing to say negative about them in the slightest way! The bass sounds very clear and full and the treble sounds bright and beautiful but not harsh in any way. Now, I can turn my Ipod's volume up quite a bit higher then I could with the other headphones I have tried, because they would start to distort and sound horrible. The PX-100's have little to no distortion (If any at all)- even when played at very high volume levels. The sound they reproduce is truly one of a kind! Anyone would enjoy and appreciate the PX-100's sound reproduction, feel, quality, and price no matter what type of music you listen to. I listen to rap a lot, as well as alternative and classic rock and I'm extremely pleased!!!

Customer Review: These have trouble coming off my ears...
Summary: 5 Stars

...I love them so much, I never want to put them down!

Design:
Made of high quality plastic, rubber, and padding, these are sure to last a long time... the fact that they fold into next to nothing only enhances their already great design. Two things that I would prefer (but certainly isn't necessary) would be having leather ear pads instead of the open-cell foam and the second would be a right-angled jack (or adaptor included). A belt clip on the carrier/case would be pretty sweet as well, but again, the overall design is still fantastic.

Sound Quality:
Like any headphones with similar specs, the sounds are both clear and crisp. The treble was fantastic and I could hear all the upper-register noises with great clarity. What really impressed me was the bass response from these little buggers... my Zen Vision W has an EQ and a Bass Boost, when I turned them both on and listened to a heavily beated song, I was amazed at the phone's ability to handle the bass output. It wasn't something that rattled the headphones nor did it sound like the cones were about ready to rip. What I got was a perfect background bass that was perfectly present in virtually any audio that was being played (MP3 or Video file). I have a 100 watt powered Sub in my home and I prefer the bass on these to that of the ones at home.

Do yourself a favor and get these phones, they are of sound quality materials and put out great sound. They are versitile enough to use at the Gym or Jogging, or if you want to listen to songs or videos on a plane, in a car, or out in public.

Customer Review: Where have these been all my life?
Summary: 5 Stars

I was one of those cheap dogs who just used the headphones that came with the cd player. Good enough, right? Whatever. I have joined the ranks of those who learn what their music really sounds like. Never to go back. These are just awesome to wear! So lightweight, I can hardly feel them! I like the longer cord, the case is a little strange, but this is a set of headphones I want protected!

I love the clear sound. Tchaikovsky, Metallica, John Williams, Charlotte Church, Louis Armstrong, all across the board I like the sound better. I'm just getting into the audiophile game, so I don't know all the words to describe how much better the sound is, but double your pleasure, double your fun seems to cover it.

I love the comfort level. I could wear them all day. I was using these Sony (included w/ CD player) phones, but they make my ears feel bent after a while.

The only drawback (inconsequential in my view) is that in their open design, others can really hear when you play stuff loud. My boss came over, she thought I was busting my ears out, but I was just sound bathing at the proper level for screaming electric guitar. But that's not really a con. That's for others to worry about. I'll have to watch it in the library when the grumpies are around.

These are the best headphones I have heard to date for the money. I guess I should get out more. Someday I may upgrade to better sennheisers. The 580's are supposed to rock. There's also headphone amps to try first. Where's my raise, boss? Anyway, I'd buy these again in a second. I may get another pair for running.

Customer Review: Great Portable Headphones!
Summary: 5 Stars

OPEN AIR HEADPHONE BLK

Great Headphones, even though they are Portable!

I'm pretty selective when it comes to audio products. A little about my background: I spent 10 years working at a "Higher End" Audio Video store, and spent 5 years of that as a sales manager (most of which I spent managing an Audio Department.) Once you've heard, and understand the differences, between really good Audio Products and the normal "Mass Marketed" crud, (IE: Company that Starts with a B and rhymes with Bose! LOL), it's impossible to go back. =o)

We sold Sennheiser headphones, and as soon as I heard their clean, smooth, and accurate sound, I was hooked! I've owned a few Sennheiser sets over the years, and these are the first portable Senny's that I've bought. Great folding design! The case they come with is great for protecting your nice new headphones, yet small enough to fit into a front pocket of your carry-on, while traveling. The sound is clear, yet smooth. (Clear is easy, but being clear without being "bright" or harsh, isn't!) The vocals are real and amazing! The bass response if phenomenal, especially for open ear head phones... Rivals some Closed Hear headphones I've tested.

If you need some Great headphones to take you on the road, and are SICK of those cruddy in ear head phones that came with your Ipod, or other portable, pick these up.

You'll thank me... if you ever think of me again. HAHA

Customer Review: a positively satisfying "open-aire" experience
Summary: 5 Stars

The PX100's are immediately impressive for their clarity, comfort and range. They sound much better than any of the previous 10 or so Sennheiser models that I've owned over the last 20 years.

The great advantage of many Sennheiser headphone models is that they employ an "open-aire" design - meaning that the rear of the earspeaker is not enclosed.

I've done a lot of "binaural" recordings (using Sennheiser's MKE2002 headset mic system) and binaural recordings are meant to be listened to using headphones - the earspeaker being naturally located almost exactly where the mics were. The recording already includes all the reflected acoustics from the shape of your ears, so with "open-aire" headphones your brain is being given accurate information with which to build an astoundingly real surround sound image.

By comparison, "enclosed" headphones add unwanted internal acoustics to binaural recordings - enough to ruin the surround effect. My experience is that ALL recordings sound better on good quality open-aire, rather than enclosed, headphones.

If you're choosing to buy any other model of Sennheiser it might only be because you are choosing to sacrifice sonic quality by opting to exclude external noises - or because you can afford to buy their top of the range open-aire models (and you don't care how much they might weigh).

These are German designed, but made in China - which accounts for the lower than expected price for this quality. The Chinese workers deserve a big pay rise.
