Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sennheiser PMX80 In-Ear Sport Series II Behind the Head EarphonesCustomer Review: Much better than the sony or motorola... Summary: 5 Stars
I've gone through quite a few different headsets: the bluetooth motorola s9, the Sony 50G, some from bluetrek, and a variety of earbuds, earclips, etc. These are by far the best headphones around for running and general workouts--they are light, they stay in place regardless of how sweaty you get, they sound great, and they are easy to store. Plus, you just can't beat the price.
The Sonys sure seemed like they'd work well--but after 30 minutes of sweating they'd pop out of my ear. Dry, they work great--sweaty, they slide out the same way every other earbud does and the flimsy behind the neck band doesn't do much to keep them in place--great sound though. While the motorola and bluetrek stayed in place, they were both heavy and syncing was, at times, a pain, as was battery life. I don't know how many recharges they each take, but both sets lasted under 3 months for me before the battery life dwindled to under a 1/2 hour.
I kickbox, do punching bag workouts, aerobics, p90x...and these stick with me regardless--they don't pop out, they don't make my ears tired, and they don't feel heavy. Very glad I purchased them.
Customer Review: One regret... Summary: 5 Stars
If I had waited another month, I would have gotten them at nearly half price! Today when I checked the price, they were $32.49 - I paid nearly double that ($59.99). But they are definitely worth it!
These headphones provide much better sound than the average headphones. They stay comfortably in your ears no matter what you're doing (I've never worn them for more than an hour straight, mind you). They look pretty cool in my opinion, and come with a handy clip to prevent the cord from getting in your way while working out.
The only suggestion I might have for improvement is a retractable cord that you can adjust depending on whether you have your mp3 player/iPod in your pocket, on an armband, or elsewhere. I run the cord under my shirt so that it doesn't dangle around and possibly get caught on anything. Still, that would not be a problem at all if the cord were retractable. But I suppose the retraction device would add weight and maybe a little bulkiness to the headphones.
Nevertheless, this is a comfortable headphone set that is ideal for running! At the current price, they are a steal, for sure!
Customer Review: Best Running Headphones I've Owned Summary: 5 Stars
I've gone through a few different sets of running headphones including the iPod headphones (notoriously bad and would not stay in my ears after a few steps) and the Nike Earhook headphones which I hoped would fit my evidently oddly-shaped outer-ear, but they too were somewhat loose and had to be adjusted every half-mile or so.
After reading reviews for various sets of headphones I settled on the Sennheiser PMX80 Sport Series II headphones and they have been wonderful. Though initially a little tight around the head, they become more comfortable over the course of exercise and the only parts of the headphones noticeable during exercise are the speakers. The sound quality is good (though I'm not too picky) and the included clip is a good add-on allowing you to clip the long cord to part of your outfit so it is not dangling around too much during a run or other activity.
Regarding their water-resistance. I'm not a big sweater but haven't had any problems either with sweat or pouring a small cup of water on the back of my head during a long workout.
I highly recommend these headphones.
Customer Review: Sennheiser PMX80 Summary: 5 Stars
This is my second pair of these headphones. First pair lasted about 2 years before the speakers went which I find an acceptable length of time for a product like this. I use these in the gym and running so they are subjected to a lot of bouncing and moisture and they really hold up. My main "love" of these headphones is the fit. The "ear buds" and "ear clip" style just do not stay put when really running. These things do not move at all and remain comfortable for a 1 hour workout in the gym or a 8 mile run. The cord is relatively long so if you use an arm band you will need to tuck the cord in. I generally wear my iPOD on my waist and even there the cord is a bit long. Nice thing is the cord is long enough if you wear your iPOD at the waist in the center of your back the cord reached no problem. To me a bit too long is better than not long enough. Sound quality is fine. You just need to remember these are a pair of semi disposable, lightweight work out head phones and not $800 Noise Canceling Full Ear Head Phones.
Most important for active people these things stay put.
Customer Review: Best headphones I've used for running Summary: 5 Stars
My goal for these was very straightforward, they had to stay in my ear and be reasonably comfortable for running and they fit the bill. Have tried over a dozen different brands and have had a set of these for almost 2 years and have been quite content. The jostling motion of running makes buds useless to me, the ear clip style too moves a bit and anything involving a headphone pad instead of the bud insert gets too sweaty. These have enough bass and clarity to fit my needs, when wanting to enjoy music in a non athletic situation I go to my Sennheiser PXC 250 Active Noise Canceling Headphones.
The one con is durability. I've had two pairs of PMX70 and see the same issue will inevitably happen with these, that the space immediately next to the bud is weakly made and will eventually break. Party because of how I jam them in my gym bag, but also because of shotty construction, these aren't as durable as I'd prefer. That said, I've gotten to enjoy a year of use with each pair before retiring them, a solid ROI to me for how great they feel in my ear.
