Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sennheiser PMX80 In-Ear Sport Series II Behind the Head EarphonesCustomer Review: Hooked on the Sennheiser PMX80 Summary: 5 Stars
After discovering my savior for my iPod Shuffle, the tapSTICK, I needed to find a quality headphone set that will stay on properly while running. I found the Sennheiser PMX80 sport headphones and spent a fair amount of time reading the reviews. Yes, there are cheaper, (Less expensive), units out there. Sometimes, "You get what you pay for" is a true statement.
In my opinion, I got what I paid for.
The PMX80 does exactly what I need them to do; Stay in place while running, PERIOD. They do not move. At times I could forget that I have them on, if not for the music playing in my ears and seeing the cable bouncing a bit. I do not find them uncomfortable at all. I do agree with some of the other reviewers that the clip for the unit's cable (Which attaches to your clothing), is pretty key. I have had them at a 12 mph pace with no problems. I am no sound techie and I find the sound quality to be just fine. I did not buy these for sitting on the couch, sipping a fine cognac and listening to Mozart. I bought these to hammer out some miles listening to kick a** tunes. It works for me. Don't get me wrong, I lke Mozart too. Just not when I'm running.
And, you can rinse them off with water.... How cool is that?
Customer Review: Excellent headphones for running. Summary: 5 Stars
I bought these headphones for running. I was using the ipod earbuds but they would clog up which would cause sound to almost be nonexistent in one earbud halfway through my run. One of the earbuds would also pull and after about 5 minutes would fall out of my ear.
Enter the Sennheiser PMX80. Yesterday was my first run with these and it was raining out to boot. These performed flawlessly. They do not sit in your ear like earbuds so they do not get clogged with sweat like my ipod earbuds. I have a pretty big head but surprisingly these hit great. One problem I sometimes have with headphones like this is that they are too tight due to my large noggin. Not so with these. They were snug but never felt tight. I almost forgot I had them on due to their comfort and light weight.
If you are a runner these headphone are for you, assuming you like the behind the head style headphones. I use them with an iPod shuffle and am very happy. While they are a little on the expensive side they are worth it in my opinion. They are sweatproof and waterproof also which comes in very handy. I even used my kitchen faucet and rinsed the sweat off them after my run with no problems. Overall a great pair of headphones and I recommend them.
Customer Review: Awesome for the price and comfort! Summary: 5 Stars
I love these earphones. I have small ear canals, so regular sized ear buds would always fall out. I run 5 times a week and needed something that would stay put, and these do an awesome job. Plus, they're splash resistant, which means I can sweat a ton and it's ok, or run in the rain without having to worry about them shorting out. I've had mine for about 3 months now, sweated up a storm with them and ran through the rain with them. There was one instance where I heard a ground, but placing the earbud against a towel and tapping against it gently solved that immediately.
Many of the reviews that gave this product one star complained about the fit. I had the exact opposite experience - I love the way these fit on me. They stay put and I don't need to adjust them at all during a 7k run. They look pretty cool too and the sound quality is quite good. To play safe, keep the receipt as several reviewers have complained about them conking out after a few days. Personally, I've owned at least 6 pairs of Sennheisers and that's never happened to me (knock wood). It takes a good 2-3 years for mine to die or aesthetically degrade.
Overall, for the price they're offered on Amazon I think they're worth every penny!
Customer Review: Best of the bunch Summary: 5 Stars
It has taken me a while to find quality ipod accesories. Ive had every generation of nano and a few of the reg ipods and while some have been better than others, these products are all top-notch. My experience with accessories, however, has not been such. For example, after 3 tries, I have yet to find a good armband for the nano. It does not seem to exist yet. With sport ear phones, however, I have struck gold. My first job as a kid was as an audio salesman at C.City. more than 15 years have passed and I can say that today, I am a practical audiophile, meaning that I finally have a handle on the name vs. quality ratio. So, if you are looking for good frequency response, durability through weather & sweat, and comfort, you can take it from me - these are great. Also, these dont stop up your ear because they are forward facing. Unless you are submerged, it is not healthy to seal your ear canal. Fortunately you have enough sound projection for enough bass to get though, which is usually an issue when there is a significant open space between the driver and the canal. The only other trial left for these is to see how they hold up over time, which, based on the long-standing quality brand, should be an easy pass.
Customer Review: Great workout earphones. Summary: 5 Stars
Tried the original iPod earbuds at the gym--but my sweat would cut-off the right one and they fell out. Bought a pair of JVC Marshmallows, and they fell out and cut-off on the right side when I sweat.
Decided to try the Sennheiser because they are water resistant and over-the-ear. Couldn't be happier at this point. They are very comfortable and never feel loose or pinch. I have a larger head, and was a little worried about some of the other reviews, but I have worn them a couple hours with no issues. When I put a towel around my neck, it can move them around a little but its never uncomfortable and I don't loose the music. I actually prefer the one piece design--makes them easier to put on, and I can drop them around my neck to talk. The sound is better than my first two pair, and they don't cut off. As for durability, I have only used these a month so its too early to judge.
This design doesn't isolate outside noise much, which is good if you are running. You can still have a conversation, or hear some noises around you(if the music isn't too loud). I still use the iPod or JVC earbuds under mufflers when I mow.
