I'm not an audiophile but am a hardcore gamer. I bought these awhile back, it has been longer than a month now and so far it has been great! Now, in terms of what I was searching for in order, was
1. Must have good reviews
2. It had to be this type of ear-buds
3. Has to have a GREAT microphone
4. Durability. it MUST be long lasting
5. Sound Quality last since I only have an onboard soundcard.
I do not use the USB soundcard it came with and I only have an onboard soundcard so no fancy 5.1, however, it still plays wonderfully. nothing wrong with the sound. I play WoW and i'm able to hear sounds that I never heard before. the ambiance and sound effects in the background is heard through this headset that i wouldnt hear otherwise on my speakers.
It is very comfortable for me, it's adjustable for how long your head is and it keeps my ears nice and warm at night :) I can wear it for long hours without any complaints
The microphone is what I searching for in a headset and this is it. I came from a 20$ logitech headset that was would pinch my ears and I was hard to hear even though I had the mic in front of my mouth. This headset, the mic adjusts up and down but not swivel side to side very much because of the rubber that bends it back in position. however, I don't need it in front of my mouth because the clarity is great. I use vent and in-game WoW voicechat and they have no complaints. they hear me perfectly.
Price of these kept me a little turned off but it's very well worth it in my opinion. if you are shopping for headphones, Sennheiser is the absolute best.
Some cons:
-Not covering ear, only sits on the ear. It only bothered me for a little bit but couldn't find any perfect.
-If using USB sound card that it came with, it WILL disable your onboard soundcard, thus will not be able to use your speakers! if you want to use both, you will have to know how to manually disable otherwise skip the USB.
-Leaks sound. because it's not covering the ear, it leaks sound pretty badly but oh well.
-Volume adjuster is easily to be changed as it is a dial and gets in the way pretty easily. Minor problem though.
UPDATE: 3 months later
It's still in perfect condition and have had no problems with the easy adjusted dial that I mentioned above. No wear and tear problems and no sound problems.
However, what is bothering me a lot is the sound leak. if you don't want anyone to know what you're hearing, you better adjust the volume all the way down. After saying that, I would not recommend this headset if you're not using the mic often; better spent on another Sennheiser model for over-the-ear effect. Otherwise, using a mic and headset-in-one really helps if you dont mind the sound leak.
