Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sennheiser HD201 Lightweight Over-Ear Binaural HeadphonesCustomer Review: Best headphone value EVER Summary: 5 Stars
These headphones are lightweight, fairly comfortable, and sound head and shoulders better than any pair of $20 headphones I've ever heard. Here are the aspects people always want to know about:
BASS: these don't pound your eardrums in, but the bass that is there is infinitely cleaner and snappier than some of those boomy headphones I've heard. You can really follow the bass line with these, rather than just having your eyeballs fuzz out from vibration.
MIDS/HIGHS: this is the reason to buy these headphones. Not too bright, but very clear, warm, smooth, soothing, and musical. The first time I listened to music on these I was able to pick out the click of the pick against the guitar string, something I'd never heard before on that song. In fact, I blame these headphones for my new addiction to, well, headphones.
These obviously can't play as loudly as $200 headphones, and lack a little of the very lowest and very highest reach, but everything in the middle is VERY good. I don't think you can find headphones that are this nice to listen to for under $100. And being under $20, you can buy a pair to try without feeling like you might be wasting a lot of money. I should go work for these guys or something =).
Customer Review: A layman's review Summary: 5 Stars
Sennheiser brand is undoubtedly among the best ones for headphones. I always wanted to own a pair of Sennheiser headphones, primarily because of word-of-mouth advertising from friends. However the price of high quality models usually start from about $60-70. This model priced at 19.99 was a big temptation to buy. Its a excellent quality entry level model at a very reasonable price. For general usage like listening to songs on laptop or the Microsoft Zune, this headphone provides amazing sound quality. You can feel the vast difference in quality of a Sennheiser and a cheap Koss or Coby or the chinese makes.
I also listened to a sample Bose headphone at CircuitCity, NYC and compared it with Sennheiser HD201. With HD201, one can get high quality sound at a much cheaper price. Am not an audiophile or sound freak, but could feel the clarity and crispness of sounds it produced.
Secondly, the earcups are large enough, so it doesnt stress out your ears after long hours of listening. Its got an adjustable headband giving you the flexibility of adjustment.
On the other side, the only shortcoming is it does not have an in-built microphone.
Overall its among the best reasonably priced quality headphone for general home usage.
Customer Review: Amazed for the price Summary: 5 Stars
I got these several days ago, and have since used them for about 24 hours. I listen to music, play games, and watch moves on my laptop and the sound is very clear. I read the review that 'S' would sound like 'Ssssss', so I put in some Kelly Clarkson, Avril Lavine, Bette Milder, Pretenders, and Bangles and they sounded perfect. This is on a T61 Thinkpad which is known for having low volume. These headphones sound great with my volume set to 25% which is excellent on my battery.
They are not very noise cancelling, meaning I can put them on with no sound going, and I will hear muffled noises from the room ( my AC fan, the dishwasher, etc.... ). Now if I turn some sound on, I can not hear those noises. For me this is fine, if you like to have absolute silence when the music goes into a quiet spot, then you may be disapointed.
For $20 I have never seen headphones this nice, they fit over the ear, and the headband fits amazingly well. I wear glasses and had no problems. The cord is nice and long, and is very flexible. I have worn these for about 10 hours straight, and when I took them off my ears felt fine, I had no headaches, and the inside of the cups were dry.
Customer Review: I love them Summary: 5 Stars
I got these with the Pepsi Stuff promotion. I was looking for something a bit different than the earbuds I'd been using with my ipod. See, I listen to a lot of podcasts, and some of them are so soft I can barely hear them. The earbuds just didn't cut it. With these, I don't even have to turn the volume up, I can hear everything perfectly.
When listening to music, I can hear in clarity I never heard before. The bass is perfect, there is no "tinny" sound, it's like listening to my favorite music for the first time. The Annie Lennox song from the last Lord of the Rings movie has never sounded better, and that includes listening to it in the theater.
I keep them at my desk at work, and it couldn't be better. First, the sound of course. Second, the cord is like 10 feet long. I am not chained to my computer when listening to audio from there, and I can get up and do things without moving the ipod or computer. That's awesome. Plus, they fit comfortably over my ears.
The best part? They drown out the noise of the clucking gossipers in the office. Peace and quite, plus my favorite tunes and podcasts. It's like heaven on my ears.
Customer Review: Way better than I had hoped for Summary: 5 Stars
Wow - I read over a hundred reviews for this product and cautiously purchased it for use with a dvd player I bought primarily for an 8+ hour flight to Europe and some listening to computer audio. I knew I could have purchased a much more expensive headset (the thought of ear buds was out of the question). I could have paid for noise cancellation and "better" performance. I could NOT have been happier with my purchase!
Oh, there are those who "feel better" because they paid a lot, but honestly for $20 they were extremely comfortable, handled the noise of a jumbo jetliner and unhappy babies marvelously, and delivered stunning performance. Even at high volumes people sitting near me could barely hear anything while I was in audio heaven!
Two items I would note that others have also commented on - I wished the ear cups swiveled so they could have been easier to stow, and the length of the cord got in the way a few times (I liked having the longer cord but it would have been nice to have had a better way to manage it than a wire tie).
What are you waiting for - just buy it; you certainly won't regret it! A++
-Steve
