Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sennheiser HD201 Lightweight Over-Ear Binaural HeadphonesCustomer Review: Good For Large Heads - Not Tight or Uncomfortable Summary: 5 Stars
First of all, I always heard movie stars have large heads, as people with large heads are more photogenic. But when it comes to headphones, as a large headed individual, it's not quite as fun as they pinch and it's hard to wear them for long. So as fun as it is being photogenic, finding hats and headphones is a pain.
I snapped my Boise headphones in half trying to 'stretch' out those flimsy little things. But these Sennheiser HD201's are sturdy, comfortable, loose enough to where I don't notice them, have a loooong cord and are at the lower end of the price range. However, I'm not any professional in music that I can tell quality differences in sound. These sound about just as well as any headphones, but the important thing for me is I won't get frustrated and rip them apart trying to get them to be more comfortable. AND they fit OVER the ears, not sit on top of them, which is also uncomfortable.
I was a bit hesitant to buy these because of the price with 'you get what you pay for' showing up in so many of these reviews. But not now, I'm buying another pair for work - ear buds would be better looking, but I'm wary of the hearing loss associated with them (just my own opinion).
So, Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, The Rock, Arnold Swartzenegger and I will be wearing these on our big heads, as I'm sure they will all read this review!
Customer Review: Sennheiser HD201 - Wonderful buy for the money...!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I was looking for a decent headphone to watch movies in laptop and hear songs from my iPhone. Since my ear is little big, most of the in-ear headphones don't fit into my ears. I got this in a deal for $13 from NewEgg. With lot of good reviews from the forum users and Amazon customers, I went ahead with this buy. When I got this headphone, I was first impressed with its light weight, smooth leather finish sponge, long cord and professional design. When I connected to my iTunes, it could only say "WOWWWWWWWW....!!!" All songs were crisp clear, with no distortion, nice & balanced bass and decent noise isolation. Just two days before I was hearing BOSE AE2 in a Target store just by chance. Believe me, I don't see any big difference between the high priced BOSE and Sennheiser HD201. In many reviews, I read that HD202 has nice and thumping bass. Since I'm not a big fan of bass, I went ahead with this headphone. I really would recommend this headphone to anyone who would like NOT to invest a huge amount and expecting a nice sound with decent noise isolation.
One discomfort I could see is after wearing this headphone for more than 20mins, I feel little uneasiness (some sort of sweatiness and heat) in ears since the whole ear is tightly closed with leather cup. I guess this experience would be same even with BOSE QuietComfort headphones which has closed cup.
Customer Review: Totally Awesome Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased these headphones just over a year ago and absolutely love them. I bought them to block out background noise at work and they do that wonderfully. They are not noise-cancelling, but they completely cover the ear and muffle out most of the noise. With the music turned up to a very comfortable listening level, I am oblivious to what goes on around me.
The performance is awesome. I too am not an audiophile and listen to music only occasionally. When I put these head phones on, I am able to hear the full audible spectrum from the high pitches through the bass with crystal clarity.
It had been several months since I had pulled these out of my desk drawer, when one day the noise around me was just overwhelming. I pulled these out, plugged them into my computer and was completely swept away by the beauty of the music and the fullness with which I experienced it. I decided to order another pair for home. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of order the HD202 model rather than this one. Don't get me wrong, the HD202 is a nice set of headphones with great sound, but they do not fit entirely over the ear. Because of that, they are not as comfortable and do not block out the background noise as effectively. I highly recommend opting for the HD201s.
Customer Review: Good Quality, Wont find a better pair of headphones for $20 Summary: 5 Stars
since the 201s are entry-level cans, obviously, you can easily find better headphones out there. But you will not find a better set of headphones for $20.
PROS:
1. Sounds are separated and clear. (I hooked these cans up to my TV and the sound was so clear that I could pick out individual voices and conversations in the crowd during a basketball broadcast.)
2. Fits comfortably around your ear, unless you are Yao Ming. Only problem is that after an hour or two the tight seal around your ears makes them hot. Just take breaks every now an then.
3. Blocks out noises from outside. (I used these at work and I have to wear them off my ear a little bit because people yell at me and I cant hear them.)
CONS:
1. Bass is lacking. (I compared the 201s to a set of Sonys that my Dad bought for the same price. The sonys actually had a deeper bass, but the bass was muttled and the sounds were jumbled together. The 201s had a tighter but not as deep a bass. If that makes any sense)
2. Volume is also lower on the 201s than other audio output devices. But unless you are practically deaf, this shouldnt be a problem. You can hear the music at a pretty good level with your volume settings at around 60%.
Customer Review: Tons of bang for your buck! Summary: 5 Stars
These headphones were my first delvings into the world of hi-fi headphones. I have to say, I'm glad I selected these.
To start off, these headphones are dirt cheap. I've bought headphones that are $30+ that break within the first week. When I first took these out of the box, I knew I had bought the right brand. Sleek and powerful looking, the headphones cup the ear and (almost) qualify as noise cancelling. These are made of tough plastic and I doubt they will break for a long, long time. They have padded ear cups and a pad on the bottom of the connecter loop.
Other headphones pound out bass and overpower the treble, but not in this case. The bass is picked up nicely, and the treble remains easily heard. All genres are easily picked up, but I find that these are most suited for classic rock, Drum 'n Bass, and Electronica.
Althought Sennheiser claims these are not DJ phones, but hi-fi wired phones, they easily can qualify as DJ headphones. I have used these a few times and they work flawlessly, easily picking up the bass beats you need to mix.
The only flaw is that the adapter is falsely advertised, for there is none. Just a standered jack that words in most walkmans and computers. All in all, this is a great buy.
