Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sennheiser HD201 Lightweight Over-Ear Binaural HeadphonesCustomer Review: Sennheiser MUST be undercutting everybody.... Summary: 5 Stars
I can't see how they could undercut even their own headphone lines with these inexpensive and amazing sounding cans.
For the $20 I got them for on Amazon I cannot think of another set of headphones that sound this good anywhere up to $80. For in ear phones the Skullcandy Inkd are decent, but these HD201's are fullsize over the ear and bring something wonderful to the table.
Almost completely transparent, uncolored audio, delivered with a spacial imaging that makes music sound real. Like you could reach out and sock the trumpet player in the jaw for spraying you.
I could not believe my ears. I own around 15 pairs of headphones of all varieties, HD435's, HD205's, Grado SR60's, you name it. And for price vs performance nothing even comes close to this.
Pros
Crystal clear uncolored audio
Life like spacial imaging
Inexpensive
Well built and comfortable
Cons
low sensitivity making the volume low on portable players
lower bass response (but still pleasant)
The only 2 cons can be corrected just by having a good source to plug into. Out of the box with no EQ I loved it. With a little EQ tweaking to flatten the frequency response even further, I am having to re-listen to my entire collection because I am hearing things I never heard before.
I bought 3 pair. So that if they stop making them I will have enough to last me the rest of my life. They are THAT good. And at $20 easy to buy 3 pair.
Customer Review: Epic budget headphones Summary: 5 Stars
First off, look at the price. Yeah, these aren't going to be ruddy quality, no matter how many awesome 5-star reviews they are.
For $20, however, these headphones feel like I paid much more money. The quality is absolutely excellent. I can easily hear many different levels of sound and it is an enjoyable experience. The comfort is above par. I can go several hours with these on and not get irritated or uncomfortable.
The surprising feature to these are its ability to block out sound. Now no, it doesn't block out EVERY sound, but it is a noticeable difference. I'm a freshman living in a freshman dorm and it successfully blocks out raucous in the hallway, my roommate's tv, and loud noises from outside.
I have two complaints about these headphones, though they are rather trivial and shouldn't be taken into too much consideration. One is that the length of cable is pretty long. Maybe it's just me, but I'm using these on my laptop which is, y'know, a foot in front of me. I don't need six feet (which is how long it seems, though I admit I didn't measure haha) of wire to futz with. The other thing I dislike is that it does feel a little cheap. You really can't afford to be too rough with them, mostly where the adjustable headband meets with the earphone. It seems very fragile.
In short, these are amazing headphones if you are not an audiophile and need some quality headphones for day to day usage. The price can't be beat, and the quality is fantastic. I have them on right now. :)
Customer Review: Excellent product!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I received this item as part of the PepsiStuff promotion as a reward item. I tried the headphones with my laptop and found that the sound was excellent, even at low volume. I had to turn down the volume on my laptop because it gave an excellent volume response, more than I was comfortable with until I turned the laptop volume down. I am not one to have my headphones at a level so that people 100 feet away can hear what you are listening to, but I did have the volume up for a short time and didn't notice any distortion. I had the TV on at the time I was using them and had no problems hearing my music at reasonable volume. There is an extra long cord on the unit, but I view that as a plus. A short cord is OK until you might want to be a litte further away from your stereo or home entertainment system, then you are out of luck. With these headphones, you have the extra length you need to watch TV in bed without bothering your spouse, play your computer game from the recliner instead of the desk chair (with a wireless controller, of course), or anything else where the extra length is a godsend. For more normal use where you don't need the extra cord length, just take a twist tie and secure the unneeded length or just leave it the way it comes in the package.
I am not a music snob but I found these headphones to be an excellent value if you purchased them at the listed price on Amazon.com. Of course, if you get them free from the PepsiStuff promotion, like I did, that is even better!!!
Customer Review: Outstanding Product, Especially For the Price Summary: 5 Stars
I work offshore and use these headphones to listen to the TV at my bunk, as well as music from my laptop. And frankly I'm more than pleased with these headphones. The dynamic range is wonderful, and they deliver great stereo effect, while at the same time giving a full compliment of frequency ranges. In short, I can clearly hear what's going on, and it sounds like I'm "there". And since I'm on a rig, the headphone's ability to cut out outside noise is important, and these deliver there as well.
The only thing that may concern some of you, and this is not a problem for me, is that they don't pull a lot of volume though. It's almost as though they have some kind of filter so that the higher you turn up the volume on the source, the less that comes through the 'phones. Or at least it seems that way to me. They do increase in volume, but less and less as you turn up the source. Don't get me wrong. They're plenty loud for casual listening, and even more. But if you're looking to rock out and ruin your hearing in the process, these won't do it for you.
All in all, I'm very, very pleased with these and look forward to using them here on the rig for a long time. And the next time I look for another set of headphones, I don't need to shop any other brand. Sennheiser has made a fan of me. After all, once you've found something that has exceeded your expectations, why shop elsewhere. Now if only they made home audio speakers.....
Customer Review: Superb! Better than the Sony V700 DJ! Summary: 5 Stars
I have the Sony MDR V700 which is valued at 154.95 at BestBuy! I saw it and tried it out because they had one out on display, and of course, it sounds great when you don't have anything to compare it to. So I was set on buying it for it's look, sound, and the overpriced brand name of Sony. I managed to buy it used from someone. The condition looks very good, and sounds great. So I thought I was all set.
The guy I bought the Sony V700 even suggested I look into Sennheiser if great sound is what I'm after. I wanted to because of all their great reviews, but there aren't any places around that offer displays of Sennheiser so that you can test the product out. Anyway, my brother found a Sennheiser HD201 so finally I could test out what all this talk is about. Mind you the HD201 is at least 3 times less than the Sony V700.
I was pretty shocked. The Sony couldn't filter out the buzz that I normally get when connecting to my crappy speakers. The Sennheiser did. It filtered it out, had better sound quality and better lightweight feel. You can actually hear each musical note, rather than have it drowned out by the bass which is what the Sony does. Don't believe the brand name hype of Sony because it's not that great--if you compare it to Sennheiser! Sony's higher-end DJ headphones can't even compare with the lower end of Sennheiser! It was clear to me. Good luck!
