Customer Review: Great Low Impedance Headphones

Now onto my review;
I really recommend Sennheiser HD 205 to people who care about sound quality, but using low sound quality/low output voltage devices such as ipod for convenience. Let's face it; ipod's sound quality is not the greatest thing in the world, but we all use it for its portability.
Having said that, the reason why I recommend Sennheiser HD 205 is because of its efficiency; it converts the incoming electrical energy into sound very efficiently, and hence my review title - great low impedance headphones. To put this into perspective, checkout the impedance of those crappy earphones you get with your ipod; yes, 32 ohms - they consume as much energy as Sennheiser HD 205 does. The problem with portable listening devices such as ipod is that they have very limited power to run headphone speakers, so you really shouldn't be using some expensive high impedance audiophile headphones with. (*High impedance headphones consume more electrical energy to properly drive their speakers, so if you are a serious audiophile, you should be investing in better listening devices with higher output voltage.)
Considering that Sennheiser HD 205 consumes much less energy than some other budget headphones, it offers very clear sound and tight bass (notice that I said "tight bass" not "loud bass"). Very well-balanced low- to mid-range frequency response (check out frequency response here; [...]). As can be seen from rather high sensitivity rating (112 dB), Sennheiser HD 205 speakers are quite powerful (i.e. louder), so I do not recommend cranking the volume up; you will suffer from hearing loss. If you prefer to hear louder bass, do not crank up the volume; change the equalizer setting on your listening device. Sennheiser HD 205 will respond to your equalizer setting well, and produce quite pleasant sound from crappy portable listening devices.
Overall, I say Sennheiser HD 205 is a great buy (I bought a refurbished one here for $10, so needless to say that I am satisfied with my purchase). If you are looking for a set of headphones that you are planning on using with portable players, you will not regret going with Sennheiser HD 205.
