Customer Review: Great deal all around.
Summary: 5 Stars

As I write this review, I've had my pair for a little over two years now. It shouldn't be very significant to say they're still working, and working well, but the way most products are made lately I've got into the habit of measuring their working life against how much I paid for them. This goes doubly so for the case of headphones. If I buy a $15 - $20 pair of headphones, I'd like to get at least 3 - 4 months out of it. I figure if it averages out to about $5 a month I've had my money's worth.

In the case of the HD 202's I'm looking at about $1.15 per month. The way these things sound and hold up after that long astounds me. I've used them as temporary reference headphones for a guitar and amplifier and for standard music/movie listening both on the road and at home. They've seen all manner of abuse from drops and stuff being dropped on them, to hard pulls on the cord going so far as to accidentally pull the earpiece free of the headband; which I should note is possible with these headphones, but they slot right back into place as if nothing happened. If only more headphones were this difficult to break, unlike the Beats Solo which have a built-in weak point just above the earpiece. Good luck taking them off your head without cracking the headband.

Anyway, I love these headphones. Even though they are certainly not the best out there, and they have developed a little bit of a buzz at high volume recently, I still feel they're well worth the price and will certainly last a good long time. Because of this, I always recommend the newer HD-203's at my place of work. Almost nothing compares to the quality over cost.

Customer Review: You won't be disappointed with these headphones

I put a lot of weight in reviews when buying online, especially when I've never tested the product in person, so here goes my review of the Sennheiser HD 202 Headphones...

These headphones are AWESOME! Screw the nerdy lingo, here's what you got to know:

Noise cancellation is almost too good. I can't hear much of what's going on around me when I'm just sitting with the headphones on and no music/audio is playing. And when there is music playing, it's amazing how the sound seems to breathe with great bass and clarity.

The headphones fit secure on your head. There's no way you could shake them off. There is really soft cushion around the headband and ears. Not to get too personal, but I have biggish type ears and they fit fully and comfortably in the ear cut outs. With that said, the headphones out of the box are a little stiff, and just like what are now your favorite pair of pants, you've got to break them in before maximum comfort is achieved.

The cord length is plenty and the headphones come with an awesome little cord wrap organizer, so there's not 5 feet of cord just laying around. It makes for easy travel, and a clean desk.

I can't speak on the longevity quality aspect of these headphones because I've only had mine for a short period of time, but if they break anytime soon, you'll be able to read about it:-)

All and all, this is my first experience with Sennheiser products and I'm a fan. I will use this brand of over-the-ear headphones for life. The price and quality are unbeatable, way to go Sennheiser, my hat goes off to you and your HD 202.

Customer Review: Excellent Sound for a Great Price
Summary: 5 Stars

I was in the market to replace some old headphones that I needed to take back and forth with me on the train for some heavy iPod use. I mostly listen to classical and opera so I was looking for headphones that could handle the high and low ranges. These headphones did not disappoint.

Pros:
1. Excellent sound quality. I tried to test the threshold of what it would take to make the headphones crackle, and I was able to get them to crackle with a recording of Der holle rache but with the sound at full blast. This is NOT my normal listening volume, and I would not suggest anyone listen to something that's turned up so loud -- but I did it only as an experiment to see what the headphones can handle. So far in my real-world use of these headphones, I've had no crackling with very high or low notes, and with daily use.

2. Very comfortable ear pads, and keeps outside noise to a minimum. I've tried the Bose noise canceling headphones, and while the HD 202's are not noise canceling, they still do a good job blocking out much of the chatter on a morning commuter train.

Cons:
1. They are a little bulky with the included cord "wrapper". I like the feature because it keeps the cord wrapped up and neat, but you do pay a price in bulk.

2. It took a few days for me to figure out that the headset size adjusts in the ear area, vs on the top of the headset like other sets I've had.

Overall, I'd buy them again and I probably will get another set just to have them. A great buy. If this is the sound you get for $25, I can't imaging how great the higher-end models must be!

Customer Review: Worth it? Definitely

With a price like this, one can't really expect to have excellent quality headphones or comfortable ear pads, but Sennheiser proves this wrong.

First of all, the head strap is on TOP of your head and not BEHIND. This allows you to lean back in a chair or lie down while listening to music which is something I enjoy.

The ear pads enclose your ears in a way that no sound escapes and it produces bass sounds that no normal speakers can make.

These are indeed bulkier than earbuds, but are well worth the weight. Actually, the weight of these are pretty light compared to most other ear enclosed headphones which make them great for almost anything. These probably aren't the best for running with (however I find it pointless to run while listening to music because a car might hit you), but if you do happen to run with them, they WILL stay on your head. These aren't your normal flimsy 8$ pair, but for the cost of what they are, the stability and quality sound is more than well worth the bargain.

I use these mainly for my desktop computer in which I use Winamp, FL Studio, Audacity, Skype, Windows Live Messenger, web browsing, and various games. I've never worn anything better.

There's only one small flaw that doesn't really matter, but after a lot of wear, the headphones will take shape and won't compress onto your head as much as they had when you first bought them.

Lastly, a comfortable length of cord comes with this great pair of headphones along with a connector for an amp.

All I can say is that there's never been a day where I didn't want them.

Customer Review: Fantastic sound
Summary: 5 Stars

My mom had a pair of Sennheiser headphones a LONG time ago (mid 1980's... they were made in WEST Germany!) They cost $120 back then, which would be well over $200 in today's dollars.

I remember thinking, the sound coming out of those headphones was the best I've ever heard anywhere... simply fantastic.

Well I got these $29 HD202 last week, and as far as I can tell these sound just as good as the old one. The new one is made in China, not West Germany... but I guess they didn't skimp on the materials or engineering, just cheap labor ;)

Two problems: these are so good, they will make your MP3 files look bad. I have a bunch of 128 kbps MP3 files on my ipod that sounded just fine on the earbuds... it was hard to tell them apart from the uncompressed CD version unless I listened really hard. Well using the Sennheisers, I can definitely tell without any effort. The CD versions sound crystal clear, and the MP3 versions have a slight "whooshing" sound and a general muddiness that I didn't notice before with the cheap earbuds. Other MP3's that I encoded in 320kbps are much better. So I guess the Sennheisers are gonna force me to remake all my old MP3s into 320kbps >.<

Second problem: the ear cups are a bit small for my admittedly large ears. I'm 6 feet tall and wear size 10 1/2 shoes. After wearing them for about an hour I can feel some discomfort on my ears. I'm loath to part with these headphones since they sound so good and the price was so cheap... so I haven't returned them yet. Anyways if you are same size as me or larger, you probably shouldn't get these.
