Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sennheiser CX300-B In-Ear Stereo HeadphoneCustomer Review: Great Headphones Summary: 5 Stars
I've had these headphones for about 10 months now and they're just starting to break on me. They're the best headphones I've ever bought, and definitely the longest lasting. I used to buy horrible $5.00 headphones from Target that would last me about two weeks.
The Sennheiser earbuds really showed me that headphones should be an investment in themselves. $5.00 every two weeks adds up to about $120 a year. These were about $40 and lasted me 10 months. Sure, the right side of the headphones don't work anymore, but I'm very rough with my headphones.
The durability of these things is amazing. I've stuck them in my pocket, forced them apart when tangled and thrown them around and the quality of the sound and fit didn't even change. The headphones have a nice fit, as well. I have a bigger ear hole in my left than my right, so the interchangeable covers was a huge help.
Bass response is amazing, even though they're not open-air headphones. I have a pair of Grado SR60's and the bass is comparable (which is saying a lot when talking about earbuds). The overall sound quality is good, as well. There's no detectable distortion in the mids - but the very high sounds - like excessive cymbal crashes and loud snares, will make poppy distortions.
The first complaint I had about these was that the wire was loud. Meaning, if you have the earbuds in and something touches the wire, you can hear a bouncing sound like steel cables on a suspension bridge. It's not a problem if the music's playing, but it's annoying in between songs. You get used to it after a while, though, and now I don't even notice it.
These are, again, the best headphones I've used. I'm thinking about buying another pair, but I'm not sure if I should limit myself to one pair of headphones. But, if you've never bought decent headphones before, you won't be disappointed.
Customer Review: WOW Phones Summary: 5 Stars
I love listening to music and have used many headphones and speakers in the past. When I was buying these, I never tried them before. But, based on reading many reviews online, I decided to take a leap and buy these. I was looking for good canal phones that would do the following:
1) Prevent outside noise from interfering with my listening experience
2) Be comfortable...I repeat...MUST BE COMFORTABLE
3) Must have excellent audio quality
I am happy to say that all of the above have been met. These canal phones, when listening to audio, do prevent outside noise from interfering (when I used these on a plane...I couldn't tell that I was in one if not for the turbulance). They are superior in comfort to traditional earbud phones (those that come with the iPod, and most other MP3 players). They come with 3 bud sizes to ensure a good fit. Finally, the quality of these is excellent. I can hear the lowest to the highest notes just great and the bass is excellent and is highly adjustable via your equalizer. If you insert these canalphones in your ear properly such that they create an air-tight seal (canal phones are designed to be used in this way), you will reap the benefits that I have talked about above.
So are there any cons? Maybe...the cord length might be an issue for very tall people (but I'm not so tall so it's not an issue for me). Second...these canal phones' wires are the J-shaped kind, in which the right side canal phone wire is longer and meant to go behind the head. I find this design more effecient and convenient as the wires don't get in my way way as compared to regular Y-shaped wires...however...this is a personal preference.
All in all, I would recommend this product to anybody who wants great quality headphones that are comfortable and allow you to focus on the audio. The price on these is excellent as well.
Customer Review: Great Value Summary: 5 Stars
I had been using stock iPod Classic earbuds for my iPod Touch. The Touch's earbuds fell apart and the Classic pair was all I had lying around, although their sound quality was so poor I debated not even listening to my iPod Touch at all--I had to listen to everything at a minimum of 85% volume, and even at that level the highs were tinny and the lows were non-existent.
I bought these Sennheiser buds looking for much better sound quality and durability; they more than delivered.
The Sennheiser buds fit snugly into my ears, as opposed to just resting inside of them as the iPod ones did. The result was that much less ambient noise was audible (they're essentially earplugs that can pipe sound into your ears). Note: I have big ears, but if you don't, the buds come with three sizes of plug adapters--the largest ones come pre-installed.
Another result of the snug-fitting buds is that I can listen to everything at around 5% volume, which I know extends my Touch's battery life. In fact, I was able to listen to my iPod while mowing the lawn (power mower) and was able to hear the music decently enough at 50% volume. Also, the sound is very rich: good bass, non-tinny highs.
It terms of durability, the Sennheiser had two nice features. First, the headphone jack connector is in a durable plastic L shape. This means I don't put stress on the place where the jack meets the wire when I wrap the headphones around my iPod. Secondly, the left and right earbud wires have different lengths; the intention is that you wear the right earbud with its wire around the back of your neck. This reduces the amount of tug that occurs on your earbuds if you raise your head or if you pull away your iPod too far.
I've been more than impressed with the quality of these earbuds. You definitely get your money's worth; I highly recommend them.
Customer Review: Good Sound Reproduction (All Around) Summary: 5 Stars
I got these earphones last year and did not use them for the next 2 months as I preferred over the ear design more than the ear canal design. The primary reason for me getting these was firstly I found these very convenient to carry and to travel with and secondly I was very satisfied with everything I bought from Sennheiser.
After using them for sometime I found these to be a Tad uncomfortable and decided to use smaller sized rubber pads (that were included) and whoa the comfort level increased 10 folds. Since these were a better fit the sound quality also increased exponentially. I played around with the sound a bit till I got the perfect level in all ranges and these phones responded.
Low range (Bass) is excellent in these headphones, the drivers are tiny but dont let that fool you. I listen to almost all genres of music from Metal to dance and the bass from these was thumping as compared to some of the more expensive over the ear headphones I have used.
Mid Range and High Range(Treble, Voice - Vocals usually fall into this range) was pretty good too crisp but not bordering on jarring or distorting. I listen to a few podcasts everyday and found that these earphones performed very well. The voices were very crisp without some of the hiss that accompanies sources.
Even when these are not touted as sound cancelling/isolating earphones they do a very decent job of isolating stray sounds around you.
I will recommend these headphones over some of the more expensive variety like Shure E2c-n (I have these but after a month the left ear stopped giving me any sound, which was dissapointing as these were the most expensive earphones i ever bought but I cant blame Shure for these this is a problem with all sets). If these break which I believe they will eventually it wont pinch you that hard.
Customer Review: Stupendous clarity with Pumping Bass Summary: 5 Stars
Let me start off with the bass driven technology these buds work on. If your the kind of person who likes that punch in a music, look no further. these are so damn good in doing just that. Having said that i know some of you might think that this bass could actually drown the song and the highs, but trust me these are engineered to deleiver the perfect balance of the Lows, mid ranges and the clear highs. These sometimes give you the feeling that ur not having ne thing in ur ears and are listning through ur speakers, such is the comfort in plugging these into ur ears, it gives u a feeling of surround sound (of course ur Kbps of ur song shud be eqaully gud). Decent isolation, enough to provide almost Total isolation when the music is playing and a OK isolation when just plugged in with no music playing. The silicon plugs stay firm on the drivers and dont pop out, even if u get the buds pulled out violently from ur ears.buds fit snugly in ur ear and dont fall off, perfect for gym. Not so much for jogging and running though, cause u can hear noises in ur plugs when the wire rub against the clothes or neck, something thats very common with in ear headphones. I heard the Bose Tripor IE, and then these beauties, the CX300 had more punch and crisp bass, stayed firm in the ears, dont go all the way into ur ears which can be slightly uncomfortable at times and better ambience in the music that came out. I must tell u that the CX300 initially is not upto its full gain when plugged in for the first couple of songs, let it warm up (get the drivers juiced up) and then 10 minutes into listening , it'll hit u as to how gud these buds are. this is only for the first time u take it out of the retail packaging, it then is always ready to get u pumping everytime u plug it in. All said, i've enjoyed every song i ve heard out of these. a great buy.
