This was perfect for me because I have all my music, game saves, documents, work stuff, etc all in organized folders on my C:\. I simply Ctrl clicked the folders I needed copied, right clicked and choose copy and moved everything to my new Drive. Done! No software to install and no configurations to deal with. Awesome, quick, and easy.
One complaint... The drive is dark brown not jet black like I thought the picture showed. No biggie. I only rate on how the product works.

I just got this thing because the prices have dropped so much in the last six months that I finally needed to break down and buy one. I choose Seagate because of consistent reliability and a gauranteed 5 year warranty on parts and labor. Almost all others are only 1 year. While I can't say how this performs over a period of time, I can say in the one day I have used it, I have no complaints. It transfers files fast, makes no noise at all, takes up little space, and cool glowing orange light strip. As with the other review, I merely laughed at the instruction manual because it was so plain easy. 5 stars just for the fact of a 5 year warranty that I didn't have to add into the price.Customer Review: so far so good

I have a laptop and a home PC, each with it's own I-Tunes library. I wanted to combine the libraries and also needed someplace to back up all of my digital photos, so i took the plunge and bought this external hard drive.
I was surprised at how small it is and how easy it was to install (pretty much plug and play) - and it was really simple to back up my music and photos from both computers. Once I figured out how to combine the I-tunes libraries, I was kicking myself for overcomplicating things, but glad I had made this purchase for backing up files.
I have had this installed for about two months and have had zero problems.

I've had this drive for about a month and it is performing beautifully so far.It was a simple matter of plugging it up to the power pack which BTW is oriented 90 degrees so the cord doesn't cover other receptacles on the power strip, and plugging the USB into my older Dell 450 computer.
I plugged it all up then fired the computer and the XP added the new drive immediately without a hitch and all worked very well.Transfered about 12 gb right off without any problem whatsoever.
Mine makes no sound at all,and doesn't seem to get more than warm.
I would highly recommend this drive.

I selected the Seagate FreeAgent Desktop 250 GB USB External Hard Drive after reading a few online reviews. I saw [...], as usla, had a fair price and they are reliable.
When the product arrived, I followed the brilliantly simple directions and it did not back up my data. I emailed them after I found I could not answer my questions using the HELP online at the site. Got a speedy answer that I needed to reformat the hard drive for my Mac.
Simple instructions, instant happiness.
