Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Seagate FreeAgent Go Dock 100521233Customer Review: No longer includes leather case Summary: 4 Stars
I've purchased three of these drives and three of the docks. This dock used to include a leather case for the drive, which was really convenient. NO MORE!!!
The photos on the product page are misleading, because there's still a photo of the leather case.
Enough ranting about the case though.
The dock is cool. I've been using mine for a little over a year and it's very good. It includes two cables in case you don't have a USB 2.0 port on your system. The transfer speeds are nice and fast.
My only gripe (aside from the case, grrr) is that the drive doesn't really snap into the dock, so the drive isn't held in very securely. The only thing really holding it in is the mini-USB connector, which isn't good enough. If I even slightly nudge the dock or the drive while it's plugged in, the drive comes disconnected and I get a "Delayed Write" error from Windows. Not good!
Besides that, I use it every day and swear by it.
Customer Review: A Great Purchase. Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this item to go along with my new Seagate FreeAgent Go External Hard drive. I didn't like the drive just sitting around on the top of the tower so I decided to pick this up for that reason and a few more.
I also wanted to have the drive sitting upright on my desktop for easier access and also, I like the way it s looks with the activity lights.
I am very pleased with it, it is very sturdily built.
One good thing that is not mentioned in the item description is that the base is weighted for better stabilization.
Also, the cord will require you to have 2 USB ports.
It is 1 cable but it is split at the end, one side is for Power Only, the other is for Data transfer.
At this price, you wouldn't be dissatisfied.
Customer Review: Overall good Summary: 4 Stars
This is a good product provided you don't move your hard-disk around a lot. I just use it to backup my files on the sea gate hard disk. Works well; the only issue is that it uses 2 USB ports [one for power and the other for transfer]. On some computers you can use it with one USB; on mine it requires both. Also it takes long to read [sometimes]. It is inconvenient to carry it around. I much rather have a single USB cable than this. But, overall a good product, for me, because I don't move my hard-disk around a lot.
P.S.- It's very sleek looking. Wish they offered it in black [mines white and my hard disk is black]
Customer Review: just as advertised Summary: 4 Stars
This is the docking station for the Seagate FreeAgent hard drive, its a usefull complement to the FreeAgent and works well, even though it uses 2 USB ports, sits well on my desktop and looks reasonably good, I would have liked to have the product on another color since my FreeAgent unit is red but only Silver/White is offered at present. The length of the cord is appropriate. The quality of the components, plastic and cord is good. Overall this is a good product that works just as advertised.
Customer Review: Stable and convenient... nice addition Summary: 4 Stars
Not a must have, but it sure is nice and convenient. It keeps the unit stable and less likely to slide around on a slick table top. YOU DON"T HAVE TO USE BOTH USB PLUGS! The only reason you would is if your USB port isn't putting out enough juice. I use it all the time without plugging in the second. It is marked "power." It was well worth the price. The only problem I have is that it only came in one color; I wish it would match the color of the HD.
