The dock is a nice optional addition that enables you to directly plug your FreeAgent Go without worrying about the cables etc.
What i like more is the leather case that looks cool and also protects the portable drive while carrying it with you.
I couldn't figure out the usage of the second usb cable of the dock, i'm using it with only one usb plugged to my computer and it works just fine with only one usb. So don't worry about finding two identical usb ports...
The list price is a little bit hight but the price at amazon is reasonable for the product, recommended if you carry your freeagent go with you frequently.

This dock makes it quick and easy to do a backup. I just drop the drive into the dock, open the software and select backup now, then pop the drive back into my briefcase for the trip back to the office. Since I use the drive to safeguard my important files at home by keeping the drive at work, this makes for an easy and portable solution. I haven't had to do a restore yet (thankfully!), but I am happy with it so far.Customer Review: The Answer to dual USB connectors...

The reason this dock comes with (2) USB connectors is for backward compatibility when used on older systems with USB 1.1 or early USB 2.0 (low USB power provision) ports - using two ports essentially doubles the power that's fed/required to spin up the FreeAgent module. Newer computers with full power supplying capability USB 2.0 ports will work just fine with only one connector attached.

I got the dock for free when I bought a FreeAgent Go portable hard drive. The hard drive is permanently connected in a fireproof media safe. So I don't use the dock.
Maybe I shouldn't rate the dock at 5 stars since I really haven't used it, but it is obviously useful and well made. If I needed one, I wouldn't hesitate buying it. I probably will use it from time to time.

Any Philips DVD Players with a usb input will read this dock station and it's hard drive.
Since this dock stattion has 2 usb cables and one is a dedicated for power only, you can get a USB to Ac power adaptor and convert it as AC power. Format a partition to FAT32 on the hard drive, and BAM!!! a stand alone movie player unit. I tried and work beautifully.
