Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Seagate Barracuda 7200 1.5 TB 7200RPM SATA 3Gb/s 32MB Cache 3.5 Inch Internal Hard Drive ST31500341AS-Bare DriveCustomer Review: External Docked HD Works like a charm Summary: 5 Stars
I won't go into the finer points of how speeds and write/read rates acted on this machine.
I will simply state that it worked right out of the box in my external dock i picked up off of amazon. No fuss. No issues. I plugged it in, formated it and have not looked back since.
I initially had it written in FAT32 but reformated into NTFS -- so i have 1 format (quick) and about 200GB of written data to it with no issues.
Speed is good over USB 2.0 being streamed to my media center extender across the network.
Overall, for an inexpensive mass storage solution this works.
Customer Review: Fast, quiet, Reliable (so far) Summary: 5 Stars
I have had this drive for only a month now -- So I cant truely speak for reliability, but this drive is fairly quick and does its work silently. I have 2 drives in my computer and its amazing when I access my second drive it sounds like a turbo jet is revving up -- the barracuda remains silent and powers through some pretty intensive tasks. For sure there are drives which are much quieter and faster (ie ssds) but those drives lack one thing... space. 1.5 TB is enough to satisfy me for the next couple years until the next best thing. I definitely recommend this drive to anyone looking to upgrade
Customer Review: No problems so far, and 5 year warranty program couldn't be easier. Summary: 5 Stars
I love Seagate hard drives! I had to return one recently after 4.5 years of use. I didn't need the original receipt or be the original purchaser. The return and exchange experience was so positive that even if I wasn't already a committed lifetime buyer I sure as heck am now. I highly recommend this hard drive in particular. I've ready many reviews online and somehow this is as fast as my WD Raptor drive and as fast as most solid state drives which cost many times more per GB. I recommend buying two of them and running in RAID-0 so your PC thinks you have one 3TB drive, b/c that's L33337. ;-D
Customer Review: What's all the complaining about?? Summary: 5 Stars
Loud?? The complainers must have really sensitive ears, this is the quietest drive I've ever owned. I can't tell it's accessing data unless I look at the flashing light on the outside of my case. The drive installed flawlessly. The drive is a real fast one, too, it's noticably faster than any I've used in the past. Basically, you expect a hard drive to perform right out of the box, and this one does! I've had issues in the past with reliability when using WD drives but I dig the Seagate products, never had a crash or a performance or installation problem. Love it!!
Customer Review: Gobs and Gobs of storage Summary: 5 Stars
Well, I am using 2 of these drives in RAID mirror for my My Documents folder (yes you can assign the My Documents folder to specific hard drives, just rt click and go into the properties). This way anything in My Documents is 'backed up' due to redundancy. The drives just work. They are speedy enough, and there is an extravagent amount of storage. I also have 2 250 GB drives in RAID stripping mode for speed, and that gives me just under 1/2 TB on my C drive and 1.5 Tb of storage, total almost 2 TB storage. That is a LOT of space. Fully recommended.
