It works exactly as advertised. I have an installed iPod accessory in my glove box. It would not charge the 6th gen iPod Nano that I bought specifically to keep in the car. I was happy to find this product, although I was nervous after reading so many reviews where it didn't work. I checked the compatibility list and the 2008 ML350 was listed. The only thing was that the passPORT advertised that it worked for 4th gen iPOD nanos. Rest assured it charges the 6th gen as well. I purchased this charging adapter to use in my 2007 Scion xB when I realized that the charging feature would not work for the 3rd generation iPod touch I purchased. Prior to this, I had a 2nd generation Nano, and the charge worked great in my car. When I bought the iPod Touch, however, I would get an error message that "charging was not supported with this accessory."
This device is only intended to fix the charge issue with the newer iPods. For me, it works perfectly, and was definitely worth the money.

My main purpose in purchasing the adapter was to use it with my iHome Clock Radio after upgrading to the iPod Touch 2G which would no longer charge my iPod while docked. With the Scosche Passport Adapter, I no longer receive the message that charging is not supported with the device and the device now charges! Wonderful! It is a little larger than I expected, but I can live with that. It also allows placement of the adapter without having to remove the bottom part of my case (as is needed with a lot of the new 2G cases).Customer Review: IPOD Charging Adapter

I bought this in conjunction with an extension cable for use in a 2010 VW Jetta with the standard radio and IPOD option because the IPOD option does not charge modern IPODs and the standard radio does not display the IPOD selection. In addition the IPOD option as delivered by VW requires the IPOD to sit in a recessed area where you cannot see its display. The adapter and the extension cable charges the IPOD and allows us to position the IPOD so we can see the selection currently playing.Customer Review: It is a simple solution and works great - Tested with Alpine CDE-9852

I use this with my Alpine CDE-9582 car stereo and the KCE-422i cable and it works great. I used to have an iphone 2g and it powered and streamed the music correctly, but when I switched to the iPhone 3Gs, because of the voltage change, it no longer worked. I found this gadget, and now my new iphone works just as before. Also the product is lightweight, small, and has a nice glossy plastic cover so it doesn't bother in the car, it's just part of the cable for me now.
