Just had a ipod interface installed in my car a week ago, and was using the 1st gen iphone which charged as it should. Got the new iphone 3gs this week, and was heart broken to find that my newly installed interface would not charge the phone. Searching online for a solution, I found this little adapter. I ordered it and had it shipped overnight, got it today, held my breath and plugged it in. WORKS LIKE A CHARM!!!!! I'm so tickled. I would recommend this to anyone experiencing the same problems. I opted for the Scosche passPORT over a proprietary component offered by the manufacturer of my car stereo head unit. (Two cars have identical head units - I wanted two adapters.) I saved about $40 by buying these instead.
Works on Nano 5th Gen and iPod touch without any issues. Never take it off of the tether. It's unfortunate that this piece is necessary, but I am happy that there is a cheaper option, and the fit-up is every bit as good as any iPod cable connection. The adapter fits tight (no gap) to the iPod units.

I just puchased a 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee, which comes with a factory iPod interface dongle that plugs into the glove compartment. I was bummed to find out that I could not charge my Nano while listening to my tunes. I did a quick search for a different cable or other solution to allow my iPod to be changed in the truck, and found the Scosche product. I ordered on Thursday, and had it im my hands by Monday. This product just works. Not too much else to say, I can listen to my Nano AND charge it. I'm glad the product exists!!Customer Review: Simply works, buy it !

I had a aftermarket VW iPod adapter in my car with a 1st gen iPod Touch. When I upgraded to the 4th gen iPod Touch I was greeted with a message "Charging is not supported for this accessory" on my iPod. The device still played but didn't charge. I was irritated with Apple's change to the standard 30 pin connector. Well, I bought this in hopes of fixing the problem...
Problem solved!
The only small issue with it is the size. Its over an inch in length, kind of bulky in my car. But it works and I'm happy.

I purchased this when I found out my new iPod Nano would not charge on the car adapter I had in my car. I did the research and found out that only the full size iPods still use the firewire charging method used by most iPod accessories. The newer iPod Nanos and less expensive iPods use USB charging only. This adapter allows me to use my new iPod with all the accessories I purchased for my older iPod, without having to purchase all new accessories.
This has to be one of the best products for the iPod in recent years.
