Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Scosche passPORT Charging Adapter for iPod & iPhone (Black)Customer Review: Works perfectly. Easy to use. Summary: 5 Stars
It's a great little product and one of the cheapest on the market. Your accessory cable plugs into it and it plugs into your iPod / iPhone. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone that needs to charge their device in the car.
That said, I ended up realizing that I didn't really want that capability. My biggest issue is that my iPod Nano 4g doesn't turn off when I turn off the car, so it wears the battery down if I forget to unplug it. I was hoping this device might fix that problem, but it doesn't. In my case, I really don't want the iPod charging all the time, because that can hurt the battery. I find that letting it wear down a bit in the car and letting it charge while it's on my computer either at home or at work works quite well.
Customer Review: It made my iPhone-compatible car actually iPhone-compatible Summary: 5 Stars
So, I have two Nissans - an Xterra and a 370 and both 2010 cars came with the ipod connectivity feature. Unfortunately, nobody told Nissan that the ipod/iphone interface changed and the OEM Nissan ipod connectors do not work with the newer ipods/iphone4s.
This device solves all of it. I had to hook it up between the iPhone and the car connector and the sound quality and charging capability are flawless.
My only complaint is that you need to be a little gentle with the device. Since its plastic, enough connections/disconnections will eventually bend/crack the casing. It still works extremely well...but it could use a tougher case.
Customer Review: A great way to save all your older iPod chargers Summary: 5 Stars
After years of owning the "older iPods" no doubt you have bought a few chargers, home, car maybe even a travel charger. Recently Apple changed the charging specs on the new iPhone (3G) and iTouch (2nd Gen. and a couple others) instead of buying all new charging modules, this device steps the voltage down to the correct level allowing you to keep them. Further more if you happen to have a interface cable in your car which used to charge and play your music, this device will enable you to do the same with your new iTouch (or iPhone etc). This isn't to imply that you cannot play your new device in your car, only that it will not charge if the voltage isn't correct.
Customer Review: It simply works! Summary: 5 Stars
I was annoyed by the change in voltage requirements that Apple introduced, thereby making my stereo unit unable to charge my new ipod. This device goes in line between the cable and the ipod, with a male apple plug on one side and a female on the other.
You plug it in, and it works. And that's it.
I've had this unit for a few months and it continues to function perfectly. I've even dropped it a few times with no effect. It's well designed, and looks decent. I wish it were a little smaller, but that is hardly a deal breaker.
If you can get this for a reasonable price, I would highly recommend it.
Customer Review: Works as advertised and bonus - fits on dock with case on... Summary: 5 Stars
I just received the Scosche passPORT Charging adapter. I bought it for use with my iPod Touch on my Klipsch iGroove All-in-One Digital Music System, which did not support charging of my Touch. Not only does this now work (charges and plays), but a bonus is that the Touch is up high enough in the dock that I'm able to use it in the dock without removing its case. I also tested my 120G iPod Classic, and it similarly works with the passPORT while still in its protective case. I imagine it is important to take care to not bend the connectors, but with proper care that shouldn't be an issue.
I definitely recommend this!
