Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Scosche passPORT Charging Adapter for iPod & iPhone (Black)

Customer Review: Great Customer Service; May Require iPod Touch Firmware Update
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this product because my 2009 Infiniti M35 has an iPod feature that integrates with the audio system, but it does not work with second generation iPod Touches. (It plays, but does not charge the iPod.) When I bought this, it worked perfectly, both charging and playing through the Infiniti audio system. However, as one of the other reviewers mentioned, when the car was turned off and then turned back on, there was no sound coming through the audio system from the iPod, even though it was playing. I contacted Schosche by email; they responded immediately with experienced personnel. It turns out you need to update the iPod firmware; after that it works perfectly. (The charging adapter doesn't lock into the iPod, which might be a problem for a phone like an iPhone that is being held and moved around, but the iPod stays in the console, so that doesn't matter.)

Customer Review: AMAZING DEVICE! CAN'T IMAGINE WHY APPLE DOESNT MAKE ONE!
Summary: 5 Stars

When I bought my new 4th generation iPod nano, I was shocked to learn that all the 4-th generation iPod technology has been changed, by Apple, so that it no longer works with older chargers. That's right. None of them. Including the expensive iPod adapter I got custom-installed in my Mini Cooper. I went to an Apple store to ask about this problem, and their answer was-- we don't have one. Unbelievable. After a lengthy process of trying to find SOMEBODY who cared about my problem, I finally was lucky enough to stumble across Scosche, who as far as I know, is the only company who took any interest in helping out guys like me with this car-charging problem. This product is AMAZING and works just as well as it advertises. It was worth every penny, and it's the ONLY device out there that will adapt your new iPod to an old car charger. Don't hesitate-- get it NOW!

Customer Review: It works!

I have a Pioneer AVH-P5000 installed in my Honda Civic (2005) and without this, my iPhone 3Gs 32GB would not charge. With this adapter, I can now charge and play my iPhone through my headunit. In terms of fitment, it fits and fits WELL. I don't know why people say the adapter falls out easily, because it does not. It has the standard clips that your regular iPod/iPhone USB transfer cable has.

Note: Scosche says that Pioneer head units that use the CD-i200 cable are not compatible with this adapter and this is false. I am using this combination and everything works perfectly.

Note: This adapter will solve the problem of newer Apple products not charging, but on your iPhone, you'll still get a nagging "this accessory is not optimized for your iPhone and may cause interference" etc... You have to hit dismiss once, but not a big deal~

Customer Review: Does what it says

I can honestly say that this adapter would be a waste of money for the majority of Ipod users. The odds are that you simply will not need this. I recently bought an Ipod Touch 2G and my home shelf stereo, my work stereo, and my wall outlet charger all work without a problem. The only device I owned that used firewire charging was my car adapter, a USA SPEC PA11-HON2. In this one instance, the adapter works very well. My Touch would complain that it wasn't being charged and, now with the adapter, it charges without a problem. I highly recommend that you wait until you find that one of your Ipod accessories will play but not charge your newest Ipod. That's the only time this adapter has any value. My only critique is that the Scosche can seem a little bulky compared to the Touch but this is probably more a compliment to the Touch than anything else.

Customer Review: YES! IT WORKS!

My husband bought me an ipod nano 4th generation. I plugged it into my ihome Dual Alarm Clock Radio that I use at work, and it played on it just fine however the alarm clock radio would not charge my new nano and it drained it super fast!

Apparently Apple changed something on the new products and they are no longer charge on older "compatible" docks which sucks for people like me who don't want to go out and spend another $100 on a new alarm clock radio for work!

With this nifty little gadget I plug it into the dock, plug my nano into the gadget and tada my ipod plays and charges at the same time. I have had it for a few months and no problems whatsoever. The nano does stick out a little bit and looks funny but other than that there hasn't been any other problems. yay!!!
