Customer Review: great low cost stands

i purchased these through amazon and received them in less than 36 hours with super saver shipping. the items shipped out of indianapolis indiana and i live in northwest ohio(3 hrs drive).
i took the advice of another reviewer and used two coats of high gloss spray polyurethane. that makes a huge improvement in the look of these stands. it also leaves a smooth finish which aids in cleaning and dusting(the painted mdf on these is not sanded smooth before they are painted).
i also decided not to use the plastic carpet spikes but opted to use metal spikes that i purchased from [...]. these spikes will be more durable and also hold better in carpet.
overall assembly was simple and me and my seven year old daughter put 4 of these stands together in about 30 mins. my daughter acted as a second set of hands while i alligned the screws to the pre-drilled holes.
i have yet to try these with speakers on them (sony ss-b3000's arriving tommorow). overall i am satisfied with this purchase and will buy from amazon again.

I have seen the reviews, and have been careful in assembling these stands, avoiding the temptation for a "final" turn of the screws that might crack the stands. Either because of this or maybe the materials have been improved -- the stands look absolutely perfect.
If you plan to put these stands on hard floor (and not use the spiked carpet feet provided), I suggest that you attach felt feet of about 1/4 inch. This would allow the speaker cables to come through the bottom while keeping the stands stable.
As others have mentioned, the "cable management" hole in the top plate is useless. But since my speakers have a tripod hole in their bottom, this cable management hole was just perfect for securing the speaker to the stand (my speakers are metal and each weighs about 12 lb.). The speaker cable now goes from the top of the column to the back of the speaker and is hardly visible.
Overall, the stands are solid, they look good, and they are a great value!

I was looking for simple, decent looking and cheap stands for speakers in my bedroom. This is it....sure they are made of cheap materials but fitting is perfect and they look quite good once assembled. To prevent panels from cracking (as mentioned in many other reviews) while putting it together, i re drilled the little holes on the panels with 1/8 drill bit so they wouldn't be tight to a point where it will crack while assembling like it happened to many others on here. Make sure to keep that screw gun dead straight while drilling and then Your screwdriver while assembling. In addition as i was putting it together i used wood glue to make sure everything will stay in place for good. With material this cheap You won't take it apart anyway just like with Ikea furniture LOL. Once You put it together that's it, so i figured using a glue will definitely help. Came out perfect and to me quality of these stands is great for that price. In my case 5 stars.

I have 16x7.5x9" speakers on these and they could easily take larger ones. Get the stands at least 24" high. Use the sticky rubber corner triangles it comes with on the platform you rest the speakers on, for good sound isolation. I have used these stands on carpet in my last place and now hardwood floors, and in both cases they significantly improved the sound versus putting them on the floor, table, or shelves. The cable doesn't fit through the tiny hole but it's not a problem, you just thread it through the gap above the back panel. The wire has a tendency to be visible through the gap at the front sometimes, but again not a problem you just pull on it a bit at the back until it recedes back into the shadows.
Basically they look good and work well, the price is fantastic, and the minor niggles people complain about are easily solvable in minutes, so I have no problem giving these five stars.

I read many reviews on Amazon about this item. I decided to give it a try, and I will say that I am happy with this purchase.
These speaker stands are the perfect size for my bookshelf speakers (approx 8x10x14). The style is nice, and they are very easy to assemble. I noticed people commented that the wood splits when putting in the screws. I thought most people were over-tightening the screws, and that's how it happens. So I took extra care when tightening the screws. The wood did split just a bit, even though I hardly tightened them at all. It is a very small split, hardly noticeable. This is most certainly a flaw in the product, not the user. However, it is such a small split (structural integrity is not compromised) that I would buy these stands again in a heartbeat.
This is a very decent product at a great price. I am very happy with the purchase.
