Customer Review: Functional, cheap, looks pretty good
Summary: 5 Stars

I like these speaker stands. They're a quality stand, especially for the price point. It's true, there are probably better stands made of real wood at higher price points. However, I wasn't looking for an expensive solution. My main issue with these was really due to my own failure at assembling, and I only messed up one of the stands. It's best if you start all of the screws when attaching the top/bottom before fully screwing them in. That way, you know they're all lined up properly. On the first stand I assembled, I didn't do this and did each screw individually and ended up splitting the stand a little bit. It's not noticeable at all so it really doesn't bother me much. They hold up my Polk Monitor 30's great. They come with some small friction triangles on the corners that really grip the speaker. I hid 14 gauge speaker wire very easily up the middle of the stand. I did however, take the wire through the top back rather than the top of the pedestal. I'm not sure what they were thinking, but it doesn't make any sense to try and take the wire, especially 14 gauge wire, through the hole in the pedestal and then place a speaker on top of it. Maybe this would be possible if there was a trench cut by router. As it is, the speaker would be wobbly... The stands themselves are very stable and are more than capable of bearing the ~10 lbs of speaker I've put on top of them.

Customer Review: Nice looking, sturdy, speaker stands. Recommend to anyone.

I read all the reviews for these speaker stands and decided to give them a try. Stands assembled quickly for me and look great. I did not have any problems with the wood splitting or any other problems. Just make sure that you are screwing the screws in straight and you shouldn't have any problems with splitting or anything else. Yes, the hole for the speaker wire in the middle of the top plate makes one wonder what the heck the designer was thinking. It would be impossible to configure the speaker wire that way even while using the thinnest type of wire. I ran the wire between the two uprights and behind the cover in back and then ran the wire out again to the back of the speakers. It worked just fine and you can not see the wire. I used velcro to fasten the speakers to the top plate and it worked great. I put four pieces of velcro on the top plate first, one in each corner. I left the top velcro fastened to the bottom velcro and stuck it on the top place first. Then, I peeled the tape off the tops of the velcro and then stuck my speaker to it. It worked great. There is no movement from the speakers whatsoever. I am very happy with the stands, they are sturdy and they look good. I would recommend them to anyone and would recommend the seller as well.

Customer Review: Great for the price.

I purchased these stands as a temporary solution, but they would work fine for most permanant set-ups. I use them with Klipsch B-3 bookshelf speakers, and the stands are plenty to accommodate speakers this size. I am glad I went with the 24" set, as this puts the speakers at ear-level when you are on the couch. I was originally looking at the 31" version, but those would definitely have been too tall and come with a smaller base which would seem to be unstable for medium/large bookshelf speakers.

Keep in mind these are budget stands. The particle board looks okay from a few feet away, but cheap up close. Like in a few other reviews, one of the vertical panels on one stand cracked while being screwed in. This was not an issue with over-tightening, but more making sure the screws go in perfectly straight. The gap between the vertical panels is a bit annoying as light can shine through from behind, but it is nothing major. The plastic spikes are also cheap plastic, but do the job.

Despite these flaws, if you do not want to spend over $100 for speaker stands, I think these provide a great value and are some of the best looking and sturdy stands you will find in the price range.

Customer Review: Good as it gets for the money!
Summary: 5 Stars

I used these to hold up a pair of 6.25" speakers. Each speaker weighs around 10lbs and the stands hold them no problem. I use 14gauge speaker wire and I had no problem hiding it in the stand. There is a little hole under where the speaker sits that appears to be big enough for around 20gauge wire to fit through but I just ran it down the back and into the stand.

The stands are made out of a cheap particle board so don't over-tighten the screws or the wood will strip out. Furthermore, make sure the screws are going straight in or the wood will split. You have to put in a total of 16 screws and 14 of them made some sort of crack in the wood. The cracks appear in the rear of the stand so they're easy to hide but I just thought it was worth mentioning.

For the price, I dare you to even try to find stands as good as these. They look really nice and blend in extremely well with my contemporary furniture.

I gave it a 4/5 because there is always room for improvement in everything. It also lost a star because of how easy the wood splits. I'm extremely satisfied with them though and would buy them again, as well as recommend them to friends and family.

Customer Review: Awesome speaker stands!
Summary: 5 Stars

So I was looking for speaker stands to support my new Klipsch B-3 fronts and after researching a lot of other styles, I decided on these Sanus wood mounts for both form and price. Although I have to admit -having read a lot of the other reviews from previous owners here on Amazon- I was a bit leary about the wood splitting when I drove in the screws. After building a set of these myself all I can say is I'm not sure what other people are doing to their stands but mine went together perfectly with no splitting what-so-ever. I don't know if Sanus changed the screw size or made the pilot holes larger or what, but everything matched up perfectly for me. I did use a hand driver and was carefull not to over-tighten as suggested in the manual and like I said, had no problems at all. The stands hold the speakers perfectly and the sound stage in my living room is a LOT better now that I have the ability move my fronts wherever I want to (they used to sit on the media furniture below the wall mounted tv which was too close together). In summary, these are fantastic stands that I would not hesitate to buy again or recommend to a friend! Way to go Sanus/ Amazon!
