Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sangean WFR-20 WiFi Internet Radio & Media Player

Customer Review: A very sound investment (sorry about the pun)
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this radio to listen to UK radio (I am an expat living in the US): BBC, Talksport and Virgin (now Absolute) which are all available via the in-built reciva software.

Setting up is easy, sound is very good for a small unit.

The UI could be better but this does not really spoil my enjoyment of the radio.

My expectations were relatively low, I just wanted something more convenient than listening to the radio via my computer and this certainly has hit the spot. I just turn it on, select one of my presets and it starts playing within 5-10 seconds generally. I procrastinated quite a lot about buying this radio but I am very pleased I made the investment.

I can not comment on the other features such as receiving a station not included in the reciva network.

Customer Review: Next Generation in Radio
Summary: 5 Stars

I am a hard sell when it comes to consumer electronics and research anything I'm thinking about buying for several weeks before taking the plunge. This purchase was not exception. In fact, after two weeks I had exhuasted every resource I could find on the internet. Actually, after the first week, I felt that the Sangean was the way the go but, fearful of buyer's remorse, I strung out my analysis to be sure. The Sangean has met my expectations. The sound quality is phenomenal. Apart from not being able to link to Clear CHannel stations, I'm very satisfied. The one short-coming has to do with the unit's inability to fast forward and rewind podcasts. I hope this gets worked out in a subsequent software update.

Customer Review: Perfect for my Purposes
Summary: 5 Stars

For my limited purposes, this toy has brought me delerious joy -- moved from LA to San Francisco recently and sorely missed KROQ, et al, from SoCal. (Tried moving my laptop into the bathroom every morning; not advised.) Anyway, I was worried about everything: Would it be broken out of the box? Would it take me three years to set up? Would the radio stations sound like they were coming to me from underwater? Would the reception break and re-buffer every 30 seconds? NO, times four. I can't speak to its other functions -- haven't even tried them. But as a true "Internet Radio" I can't imagine anything beating it! After a month of GREAT performance, I'm nothing but Happy Happy Happy.

Customer Review: Awesome!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is amazing. The sound is much better than you would expect from something this small. It was easy to hook up and the controls are intuitive. Even my technology challenged parents can do it! They live in a rural area with few radio stations but they love classical music. They have been listening to radio stations through the internet but those little speakers don't do justice to great music. They already had internet access but this gives them the world anywhere in their house. Now they can listen to concerts direct from London on the BBC and they will be able to listen to their beloved Yankees with great sound quality.

Customer Review: my favorite toy
Summary: 5 Stars

Easy to setup once you get the idea of the single knob and how to traverse the menus. Took all off 10 minutes to get onto my secure wifi and be listening to my favorite station out of Chicago. I've got a solid DSL connection (up to 1.5Mbps) and never have any problem with cut outs due to buffering once my station has connected, even while I am using my PC for other surfing. Been using it for a month so far.

The box also has the option to upgrade its firmware built into its menus, though I don't know of a reason why I'd need to upgrade it at this point. Solid box for a decent price.
