Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sangean H201 AM/FM Digital Shower RadioCustomer Review: Excellent sound for a mono speaker. Summary: 5 Stars
I received this radio as a replacement for a 15 year old Sharper Image shower radio. This radio is in a whole other class. While both radios were 'mono' because each has only one speaker, this speaker is of remarkably higher quality.
Also, I like the timer function that lets it shut off automatically, though it is a little tricky to set because you have to hold down the power button and it can skip right by the time you want.
Lastly, the tuning is excellent. I listen to a station about 70 miles out of Charlotte and I have to wiggle the cord on my clock radio to tune it in well in the mornings. I have no issues tuning it in with this radio.
A good choice.
PS. The AC power adapter is not included with this radio. You must purchase it seperately.
Customer Review: Good quality radio, bigger than expected Summary: 5 Stars
I was searching for a good quality radio for the bathroom with a digital tuner to replace some poor quality analog tuners that I have tried to use. It is a great improvement and works well in a room in our house that for some reason has difficulty tuning some stations. It is more physically massive than I had thought from the pictures, it is a hefty unit, and probably around 3 pounds. I haven't tried to hang it on the tile with the supplied adhesive stickers, and probably won't. I just rest it on a towel rack inside the shower. It has this curved handle as well that's not pictured and that's movable, and you can clip it over anything that sticks out like a towel hook. There are odd things about it, like a panic button of sorts that just makes an alarm sound, but quirks aside it's great so far.
Customer Review: Great radio that holds up well over time Summary: 5 Stars
I've had this radio in my shower for well over a year now. I was skeptical that it would keep working but thought I'd give it a shot. What a surprise! It not only still works, it is still on the first set of batteries! I listen for about 30 minutes every morning and I have 25% left on the batteries.
The sound is really good for a single speaker shower unit. It isn't a 7.2 home theater, but those aren't usually waterproof. So there you go.
The radio reception is a bit skittish. Without an external antenna it doesn't get great reception except for the strongest stations (and I don't want to listen to Shakira five times per shower). I sometimes have to move it to a few places to get the best non-static reception. Otherwise I have not even the smallest concern about this unit.
Customer Review: Best Shower Radio I've Found Summary: 5 Stars
I have owned two of the Sony shower radios and they have each lasted about a year and a half before water starts to seep in and corrodes the batteries or wrecks the radio. Until now, all the alternatives were cheapo products that got terrible reviews and looked like they wouldn't last. This Sangean radio is way above the others in quality. It is meant to be a marine radio and says it is waterproof and floats, although I have tried using it as a bathtub toy. The radio is about twice the size of the Sony, but is very solidly built and easy to operate. The reception is also better than the Sony. I can pick up AM stations that would have nothing but static with the Sony and FM stations are very clear. My wife and son have commented on the superior sound quality as well and I agree.
Customer Review: The best one I've found Summary: 5 Stars
The best thing about this unit is battery life. I started with 3 D size duracells 4 months ago and the meter is still full. Use it average of 2 hours a day!
Also, the clock displays the time while the radio is on. Even shows the seconds - if you're concerned with knowing that sort of information in the shower.
Was surprised by the little flashlight on the side - I had to put little rubber feet on that side to stop it from turning on when bumping against the wall. Guess it might come in handy in the event of a blackout during a midnight shower. Think about it.
Not shown in the picture is the nice handle which rotates up behind the unit. Works nice to hang on a curtian rod against the wall. Wouldn't work very well by itself on a towel bar though.
