Customer Review: What a Shower Radio Should Be

A world of difference from what is generally available in a shower radio. The tuner on the old radio I had was almost impossible to tune. Between the poor antenna and the very cheap front end, you had a very difficult time getting a station tuned in, so much so that you really did not want to try for any other stations. The Sangean has an excellent front end. Stable synthesized tuning, station presets, decent volume (It's not a boom box) and an adjustable length antenna really do the trick. I mounted mine on the shower enclosure with the supplied adhesive strips; I appreciate that the radio can be removed from it's mount but I think it would be nice if the mount could be attached with suction cups instead of the semi-permanent adhesive. (Sangean, are you looking at these reviews?) Anyway, despite the minor shortcoming, this is a great product so far. Definitely more expensive than my last radio, but you do get what you pay for.Customer Review: Nice shower radio.

Sounds great in the bathroom. A bit larger than I thought it would be, but no problem where we mounted it. It requires 2 "D" cells. Not sure it we will ever use the personal alarm (mounted too high on the wall to reach if you fell). Manual says it floats if you need a boat radio. Built in light (ie flashlight). Controls are easy to use but you may need the manual the first time for some of the enhanced functions.
Comes with a nice wall bracket and can also hang from the fold out hook. The antenna wire can be pulled out of the case through a small hole to improve reception if needed. I am using it for AM and FM broadcast stations and I also have an FM transmitter attached to our bedroom TV so we don't wake the rest of the house when we are in the bathroom. Nice selectivity, picks out my litte transmitter from all the local stations.

This is a superior product in every respect, and well worth the price (admittedly higher than direct competitors). My purchase replaced an aging Sony model and frankly am sorry that I waited so long. As other reviewers have noted, both sound quality and reception are excellent for this unit. It is on the heavy/bulky side--perhaps a bit much to hang on the showerhead side of some enclosures--but I have it perched on a relatively dry opposite shelf and find myself using it not only first thing in the morning but at other times too. Multiple station pre-sets and an auto shutoff timer are just two of many features I've found extremely helpful. And did I mention the excellent sound quality for such a small unit? Delivery was prompt and accurate. If your needs don't demand HD radio, I would rank this as an excellent choice. Nothing short of a five-star rating from me on this purchase.Customer Review: Beyond expectations.

I've purchased shower radio after shower radio and sort of expect them to deteriorate. Some fancy Brands work only in one position and all of them sounded tinny. Dial tuning has always been a pain. This radio is twice the size I expected from the images, but the handle/hanger made it easy to put in place. The problem immediately became that the radio's sound is just too good to leave it in the shower! It's also great in the backyard to Broadcast Yankee games while I'm gardening. This radio is worth every penny--the digital tuner is great and the push button volume control is simple and perfectly graduated. The Brand was new to me and I didn't really expect much, but I can recommend this radio for the shower and anywhere you want a clear, full sounding, distortion free broadcast. The mini-flashlight?? I love this radio! Sangean always makes a quality product. Heavily built. Obviously water resistant. Tunes in better than most radios, even though I left the FM wire antenna inside. Digital tuning is pretty nice. Loud enough for the shower. Easily mounted and detached from the wall. Sound quality is superior for a shower radio. I could critique it's lack of bass/treble controls and lack of low end, but it's a SHOWER radio. As a shower radio it has some cool features like turning itself off after a preset amount of time. I usually set it for 10 minutes longer than my shower and I can listen while I dry off and brush teeth.
As a shower radio it's probably the best you'll ever find. If I had to nit pick I would say it would be nice if it included a weather band--but how many shower radios do? I would buy it again and I highly recommend it.
