Customer Review: The Best Shower Radio

This is the third shower radio I've owned and by far the best. Its features and reception make me happy every day that I bought this one. This is the first digital shower radio I've had. That in itself makes it more usable for me because I have 2 favorite stations, one AM, the other FM. Since the FM was more difficult to tune in, I was always reluctant to switch to the AM station. Moreover, anytime I wanted to switch, I was in the shower without my glasses and couldn't make out where I was very well anyway. This radio has the preset buttons and the screen reads easily. Above all, reception is great. I already own a table model by this brand because of its ability to receive AM stations better than most: I'm a big fan of late night talk radio. This shower radio is just as well built as the table model. I have it hanging over the shower head with the majority of the weight on its fabric handles hanging on the suction cup hanger from my previous radio. So it does get a shot of water each time the shower is turned on, and it is unaffected so far. All in all, a great find!Customer Review: Happy every time I use it!

I bought this shower radio a few months ago after reading the positive reviews from other customers on Amazon. So far, it's been great. The sound quality is very good, and I love that there are digital stations instead of a tuning dial - allows you to be more precise in getting the station for better sound quality. Good size - fits in a lot of nooks in my bathroom and seems tough to accidentally knock over - it has some weight to it.
One drawback is that you can't get TV stations on here - I used to be able to get some channels on my old Sharper Image shower radio, but this only has AM and FM stations. Not a big deal, however.
An unexpected plus with this is that it doubles as a flashlight. It has a button on the side to use as a flashlight when camping, or during a blackout in your house. I am one of those people that NEVER has a working flashlight during a power outage. . .but since I use my shower radio every day, it always has working batteries in it! I'm sure this feature will come in handy at some point in the near future.

My 84 Y/0 aunt needed a replacement, portable, AM / FM radio, and I stumbled upon this unit at a retail store near my house. After comparing it to offerings from Sony, Panasonic and other makes, I made the decision to purchase one.
First, the unit appears to be built in a high quality fashion. The buttons feel solid, the case rugged, and the radio performance impressive. The store where I evaluated the unit sits within a couple of hundred yards of a couple of very high power commercial radio and TV stations, and the receiver showed no evidence of desense or overload. Sensitivity was very good, picking up stations from 50 miles away. Finally, the radio was very simple to operate, such that even my technologically impaired aunt could operate the unit with only a minute of training.
Volume level wasn't the best I've ever seen, but it was perfectly adequate for most home environments.
Highly recommended.

If you are looking for a high quality FM/AM radio with rich deep sound (best in FM mode) and size is not an object, this is your unit. The Sangean shower radio is built to last and is the only radio of this kind I have ever owned that actually worked and worked quite well. I set the volume on 25 or 26 to overcome the noise of the shower and it does this with volume to spare. You can be under a spray of water and hear perfectly with this radio. For best reception, I recommend using the wire antenna for FM which is located in the battery compartment but this is not to say the unit's tuner is not strong, which it is. I bought two of these in the end; I want one as a straight portable. There is a neat little swivel handle which rotates into a secure carrying mode. A strap is also included. I really like this radio a lot - my only suggestion to Sangean is to consider adding a black colored radio since white can be a bit intense for certain applications.Customer Review: Fantastic radio for the shower

Great radio for the shower - I've had a couple radios in my bathroom over the last few years and this is far better than any of them. It gets great reception - had to fiddle a little with the antenna wire for it but I was able to get two stations on this that would not come in at all on any of the other radios I've had in there. The digital presets are very handy, the others I've had were analog dials. The display is nice and big and the handle for hanging it up on the hook is nice a sturdy and has a rubber coating along the inside to keep it from slipping around - the other radios had simple cords or ropes instead. Can't say it has big booming sound but it sounds fine to me. Can't imagine I'll be using the built in flashlight on there but who knows? Power goes out and I'll be glad it's there.
About the only down side is this radio is a tad on the big side compared to others I've had - but that's not a big deal for me.
