This is my second of this model I have owned. I bought the first one at radio shack many years ago. I was afraid that I wasn't going to be able to replace it and was glad to see Amazon was carrying it. It performs all functions well. The first one I had lasted for years and was put thru a lot of abuse. I even had the on/off control repaired at radio shack. The earbud connector is worn out on the first one from thousands times of removing the buds.
Besides function and size the most important feature to me is that it uses AA batteries. This size battery will last for may hours vs. another radio I had that used AAA batteries. I stay away from any electronic that uses AAA batteries, thay just don't last.

I bought this radio about a month ago and I was pleasantly surprised with its performance, especially on AM band. I own a small collection of portable radios (Grundigs, Sangean, Kaitos etc) and this little radio beats most of them in terms of AM sensitivity and selectivity. Among others, I am able to pull in AM stations from Seattle, Las Vegas, LA, San Diego, and multiple Mexican stations on a nightly basis, despite powerful local AM stations that usually mask the weaker signals.
FM performance is on par with other radios, you need to use headphones acting as an antenna to pull in weaker stations.
Battery life is OK, better than other digital radios, although it definitely decreases if you use FM a lot.

I bought this for a trip to Japan, where the tour guide "broadcast" his commentary to us as we walked down the streets so we could be inobtrusive and not look like a bunch of gawking tourists. My reception was much better than many in my group. My batteries lasted the trip and still kept going afterwards, even though many other participants' batteries died. I now use the radio at home and the sound is so much better than any other radio I use. The ear "buds" are perhaps not as comfortable as other types, but they didn't bother me. That is my only qualification. Exceptional product, highly recommend if you are looking for a portable radio only.Customer Review: Gorgeous little radio

I bought this radio six weeks ago, because the radio in my beater got stolen, and I couldn't see replacing the car's radio because the neighborhood isn't getting better.
Boy was I surprised! The sound is so great, and the reception never fails. Ive found myself wearing these ear buds everywhere... in the store, the car, dog walks, bike rides. I love how I can adjust the volume so that I can not only hear the radio, but the normal sounds around me, so Im still safe on my bicycle for example. The batteries last and last. AM reception is super, and FM amazing... you can hear announcers inhaling... and stereo too!

I have had many radios but this one is the best! I listen to the radio at night a lot to help me sleep. Due to chronic back pain I either listen to the radio or have to take pain pills and I much prefer the radio to the pills. This little radio has a ton a nice features that fit my needs exactly. It gets good reception, has a feature that allows you to program in your favorite stations even though they may be on different frequency bands and also has a great, auto-off in 90 minutes feature that I love. I plug it into a pillow speaker and it really works great! I'd buy another on in a heartbeat!
