Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sangean DT-200X FM-Stereo AM/FM Digital Tuning Personal Receiver

Customer Review: Nicely made
Summary: 5 Stars

After reading EVERY review I could find in my search for a great AM-FM pocket radio (and having a low tolerance for junk), I decided to buy the DT200VX based on all the favorable comments from the crowd. After all, I bought the Grundig S350DL after reading all of the positive reports on it and it possesses the most sensitive AM receiver I've owned and I've owned and heard many over the years. Well, I'm very pleased with the Sangean! The solid case and nice display have a 'high end' feel and look, and the receiver doesn't disappoint either. It's not as sensitive as the Grundig on AM, but hey this is a very small radio (and has a proportionately small but very effective ferrite antenna). The method for programming the presets is easy, and you can mix them between bands as you wish. As others have mentioned, the supplied earbuds are not representative of how good this radio can sound- add a pair of quality earbuds or decent headphones and you'll be amazed by the high fidelity sound this little radio can produce on FM, and it's quite listen able through the built in speaker as well. I'm very pleased.

Customer Review: Sometimes you just get lucky
Summary: 5 Stars

I was looking for a small radio that would pick up local AM stations as I walked my dog for an hour or two everyday. I like listening to "talk radio" (Air America, Stephanie Miller, Thom Hartmann, etc) so my mind is engaged while we're out and about. The reception, of course, had to be good - I would guess this is somewhat more important for the spoken word than if I was just listening to music. And I was hoping that the reception would remain "even" if I changed direction while walking. I wanted to carry it in my pocket so size and weight was important. As it was just a radio, I didn't want to pay too much for it. I read the reviews and decided on the Sangean DT200VX. This one seemed to meet all my criteria but it's hard to tell from just the description. The first time I tried it I knew I had made the right choice. Everything I had wanted was there and more - the number of presets, the headphones, the auto shut off, the built-in clock, battery indicator, etc. Design-wise, I can't think of anything that I would change. For what I wanted, it is perfect. Sometimes you just get lucky.

Customer Review: Sangean DT-200V/X
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this DT-200V/X to replace my older DT-200V. While my older one is still working except for the speaker, which was damaged by one to many drops on a hard floor, I decided to take the plunge and upgrade. I was pleasantly surprised when I received the new DT-200V/X. Not only is the new model smaller it performs better too. This new model seems to be more sensitive then the older one. I like listening to out of town AM stations at night and the 200V/X seems much better. In addition, the speaker tone seems fuller and has more volume. Also, the new button arraignment helps solve the problem of accidentally changing stations and bands. Finally, there is the light. Since I listen at night, in bed, it has been a great help when I do want to change stations. I should also mention that there is now a clock that, displays when the radio is off, and a battery strength indicator. If you don't have a good pocket radio, and are tired of cheap sets, I highly recommend the DT-200V/X.

Customer Review: If only it was waterproof...
Summary: 5 Stars

I got one of these three years ago, and I really loved it. I took it everywhere I went. One day this past summer, my car (with me in it) became totally submerged in rapidly rising flood waters. The car was totalled, and so was my little radio.

Recently, I joined a gym, and I quickly realized that I needed to get another DT220V because all of the radios I tried to use there were either too bulky or had horrible reception. So I ordered another DT220V, took it to the gym, and now everything is right again.

It's small, but not too small. It sounds great with headphones, and surprising listenable with just its own little speaker. Best of all, its reception beats anything I've found that is small enough to wear on your belt or in your shirt pocket. Even inside the metal gym, it lets me listen to outside AM and FM stations with no problem.

I'm glad to have my DT220V back. This time, I'm keeping it away from rising waters.

Customer Review: Excellent Walking Companion
Summary: 5 Stars

I've owned 4 of these amazing pocket radios over the past eight years. They are solidly built, take a beating when dropped, battery life with the newer metal-hydride batteries is superb, and the sound quality with nicer headphones is excellent. All members of my family have one (so there is no argument over who was the last one with the radio), and I keep one at my cabin.

It fits perfectly on a belt on shirt pocket, and with nicer earbuds (Etymotic) and a strong FM channel, one feels like they are really at a concert. The size of the radio and its abilities to pull in TV channels never leaves one too far away from the latest news or radiowaves. The presets are easy to use, though when you remove batteries you must replace within 30 seconds or the memory of the presets disappears.

I could go on, but the hearing, portability and durability is quite amazing for such a small unit with a great price. You won't be sorry on this purchase.
