Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sangean DT-200X FM-Stereo AM/FM Digital Tuning Personal ReceiverCustomer Review: Perfect for This Listener Summary: 5 Stars
It's an idiosyncrasy; I can't fall asleep unless I've got some radio earphones hooked up to my ear. For whatever reason FM reception on the Sony Walkman deteriorated badly, so I began looking for a replacement. I settled on this Sangean after reading the reviews and noticing a great warehouse price on Amazon. The only difference between this radio and a brand new one is that there were a few pieces of tape on the packaging. The radio itself, the earphones, and the documentation were pristine.
It was easy to set up and program my favorite stations.
Sound quality and reception are both good and better than on the replaced Sony.
The radio itself is about the size of a pack of cigarettes. I like that it gives the user the option of listening with or without earphones.
Though it's capable of holding many more stations, I only programmed six into "my favorites." There are no separate buttons for the individual stations. One presses an up or down button to scan the favorites, so I wanted to keep the number small.
Since I listen to this while falling asleep, I wanted something with few buttons. The controls on this radio are well designed though I wish the up/down scrolling buttons were easier to distinguish by touch.
I like that the AM/FM favorites are all accessed with the same controls and can be intermingled when programming. Some listeners may prefer separate access for AM and FM stations. This is possible when not using the "favorites" option.
The earphones work well with decent sound and reception, although the earpieces are a little larger than I like.
Probably my favorite feature is the automatic off function. The radio turns itself off after ninety minutes. Since I almost always fall asleep with the radio on, this handy feature will certainly help me cut down on battery replacement.
Overall I am very pleased with this purchase and have no regrets.
Customer Review: Best little radio I ever owned Summary: 5 Stars
This little radio has perfect reception and a clear sound. It's not my Kenwood home theater, but it does what its supposed to do perfectly well.
I just bought my second radio after my wife has been "stealing" mine. I decided its time to get her one for herself so we both have one now.
I take this radio fishing, camping, while sitting at my desk at work and on appointments where there will be a wait. The unit fits easily in a larger shirt pocket, is about the size of a cell phone and produces great sound for a little unit.
I happen to hate using headphones so I use the radio with the antenna (included) plugged into the headphone jack for perfect reception allowing the sound to come out of its small but powerful speaker (like a tiny boom box).
The few times I have plugged my expensive headphones into the radio, the sound was absolutely fantastic so this radio will work perfectly well as a "walkman" type of radio as well.
This is a well rounded, solidly built "working man's" portable radio ready to be taken wherever you want. I've had mine for several months now and can attest it works flawlessly. I use mine every single day at work listening to my favorite radio morning show.
My little radio is still going strong. I listen to it every single day and carry it around with me. After dozens of drops and falls, it's STILL working just fine. The radio I bought for my wife is still working strong as well and my father also purchased one and loves his as well - that's 3 in the family now and we all still love this radio. Still standing by my original review - This is THE BEST little radio you could buy.
Customer Review: Best radio I've ever seen for it's size Summary: 5 Stars
I was looking for was a small battery-powered radio with ear plug connection. I went Radio Shack and purchased what I thought was the best deal for the money. After one day, I returned because it was made so cheaply and didn't even play stereo! So I tried Best Buy and tramped though acres of electronics to find that they offered only two (very expensive) options, both of which were meant for joggers. I don't jog and only lie in bed at night listening to classical music or listen to the presidential debates. Surfing the Internet, I found this little radio that I am now commenting on, the Sangean DT200VX. I liked the two-AA battery option instead of AAA batteries because I like long life in batteries. The layout of the controls were very well designed and the casing design is well engineered. The "freeze" button at the side took a little getting used to, but I found it very handy in preventing accidental pushing of other buttons. Whenever stations are changed, the dial would light up for a few seconds. That actually came in handy in looking at the time late at night. TV selection is something I don't care about. I could go on and on about the features of this radio, but it is far superior to all the junk I have seen on the market. I would not hesitate to purchase this again.
Customer Review: For many years I have owned this pocket radio. Summary: 5 Stars
For many years I have had this pocket radio. It really works and is indestructible. I have dropped this radio more than a hundred times and it still worked. The only damage was that the bezel popped out and had to be glued back. The female jack for my headphone finally gave up and could only get the left channel so I was delighted to find it was still made and got another from Amazon.
This one is very similar though a tiny bit smaller with updated features. What I like about it is that it really works well in bringing in stations - it uses the cord of the earphone as the antenna . It has a digital tuner, is the size of a deck of cards, so it fits in my shirt pocket and runs on two AA batteries while the rest use AAA so I am not changing batteries often. I use rechargeable batteries.
The updated features are: you can now defeat the automatic shutoff after one hour of running time. There is a battery indicator why is nice is because this radio draws so little power that it runs right up to full drain until it shuts off abruptly. You now have a minute to change batteries without losing memory. There is also a bass boost. It is much easier to program.
Customer Review: Best Pordable Radio Available Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this radio back in 1989, and have used it almost every night since then.
It is very durrable. After 15 years it still works. In all those years it has only broken on me once... about 6 year ago the power button contact had some bulildup on it, I just took a wire brush, cleaned the contact, put the radio back together and it worked great again.
My favorite features:
* I love the 1 hour shut off (I fall asleep every night to this thing) is a major life saver.
* Button Lock - A must for any portable radio
* AM Reception is outstanding!
This radio is set the bar to high for other portables. I have been wishing lately that it had a SD slot and mp3 decoder so that I could use it to listen to my mp3's. If they would just come out with this exact radio with that addition I would be in heaven and not looking for a comparable device... I may just try buying some cheep mp3 player, ripping the innars out of it, open the DT200V up and modify it so that I can use it as an mp3 player too. (Yes I know pogo has something similar to what I want, but it does not get newarly the same reception)
