Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sangean RCR-22 AM/FM Atomic Clock RadioCustomer Review: Good Clock Radio Summary: 5 Stars
I am very happy with the purchase. I like the two alarms which allow me to set by days of the week. I like the atomic clock feature. I don't mind the display because though at full strength it is very bright, it is adjustable. A button on the face will allow you to toggle between day and night. The radio has good sound quality and the unit is better looking than the picture would indicate. I hadn't heard of the clock prior to searching on Amazon and I was looking in particular for the ability to program alarm by days of the week. Though this feature was not readily apparent from the literature, I was pleasantly surprised. This replaced my Sony Dream machine with comparable features, but no atomic clock. Though no battery backup, I believe the clock has a capacitor that stores energy to retain things like radio stations and alarms setting during power outages etc. Overall I was very pleased with my purchase and I did not find it too complex to configure.
Customer Review: Great Clock Radio Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this radio from Amazon and was amazed at how much cheaper it was than at retail stores, (about $25 dollars less) and when I first set it up I was immediately impressed with it. But that night when I went to set up the alarm for the next morning it started acting crazy, every time I would press a button the display would begin to flash and while it was flashing everything was frozen. But I finally got it set, and the next morning when my alarm was supposed to go off nothing happened. So I went to Amazon's site and did the online return, and before lunch that day, they already had a new one in the mail which I received the next day along with everything I needed to send the other one back at their cost. Very impressed with the customer service at Amazon!
As for the Radio itself, I couldn't be happier, the display is awesome the sound quality is very good and the "Humane Wake System" is superb. For 60 bucks you simply can't beat it.
Customer Review: Finally a clock I don't hate Summary: 5 Stars
I ditched my old clock radio since the off and snooze button were next to each other and I would frequently hit the wrong one. The sound on my old one was so annoying I just turned it off most mornings. The Sangean solved both those problems and is easier to read too. I thought the mannual could have been more clear, but I eventually figured out everything I wanted. For people that complained that the nap time was not adjustible they are wrong - it is easy to adjust. I had also read complaints that the backlight was too bright. This is true when it comes out of the box, but I adjsuted it down on the bottom of the clock and now I use the button on the face of the clock to switch from day to night brightness. When I first plugged it in I thought the atomic time feature was not working so I set the time by hand. We just had a time change and the clock set itself without difficulty so I think I did not give it enough time the first try.
Customer Review: Sangean RCR-22 Review Summary: 5 Stars
I looked all around for this simple but robust alarm clock radio. I am so glad that I bought it. If anyone else is looking for a good product then buy the Sangean RCR-22 AM/FM Atomic Clock Radio. I had my last alarm clock radio for 19 years - so I hope this one outlasts the other one!
The only down side that I can think of is the instructions for setting the alarm for 7 different days a week.
I finally figured it out but they need to update that portion of the owners manual to make the setup a bit easier.
But the best thing is you can adjust that light to any brightness you want to include - no light at all.
I did not want the newer type alarm clock radios with all the adapters for Iphones and Ipods and that stuff.
Customer Review: Improved over the RCR-2 Summary: 5 Stars
I'm a big fan of Sangean primarily for the quality radio reception. I also have the previous model RCR-2 and this has an improved display (including a dimming dial) and the addition of an aux input line. I keep the display fairly dark but it is visible from a distance at any angle (not true for the RCR-2) but IMHO not too bright. In addition to the dimmer, it also has the option to turn the light and off.
Re. atomic setting: it comes and goes where I live but it can be manually set so it isn't an issue.
Some complain that there isn't a battery backup but it isn't necessary!
This radio addressed my complaints with the RCR-2. Only down side is that I don't think it looks as nice as the RCR-2.
