Customer Review: Look no further, this is top of the line
Summary: 5 Stars

Whatever your budget is, save a little more and BUY this unit. I only gave it 5 starts across the board besides 4 stars for size because it's heavy, but that's comparing it to the junkie Chinese made clocks out there. The tuner alone is fantastic, WOW!!! This unit pulls stations so far away and somehow makes them clear. The sound quality is not a Bose, but you do not need an additional radio in the bedroom, because the sound quality is great. It looks beautiful as well. Another cool feature is that you can lower the brightness level, but once the alarm turns on, it automatically goes bright so that you can clearly see the time. You can also set a different station for each alarm. Instead of a lame battery back up that will not work after a while, these engineers were smart enough to use a capacitor, which shows you how smart the upper management from Sangean are. This unit is so good that I bought this brands shower radio, I actually bought two of them and just like this unit, it has an incredible tuner and sound, but it heavy.

Bottomline: Donate your old alarm clock radio and buy this unit. Don't be duped into buy some iPod compatable unit. Just think about what you really need this for and think about if standard broadcast stations are fine for the few times you listen to music in your bedroom.

Customer Review: Great clock radio - pity about the documentation
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this clock radio because I was looking for a clock radio that had a good radio and that did not require to be adjusted for day light saving (my current clock radio needs to be adjusted 4 times a year due to the new DST dates). The Sangean is this and more. It was easy to set up, I plugged it in and within a few minutes everything was set. The automatic time adjustment works well and the features are logical. The user manual on the other hand leaves a lot to be desired and does not even describe all of the functionality (I have discovered it playing with the clock radio). The radio reception is excellent and works well even with the weaker stations in our area. The brightness for night time is adjustable with a push button (would be nice if it was automatic though). The two alarms can be set independently and can be set to operate any day/s you want and with the radio or the beeping alarm. I would recommend this clock radio for anyone who is looking for clock radio that is technologically superior to your average clock radio. Unfortunately the price reflects this. Oh, and by the way the Sangean tech support is not much better than the user manual. I called them with a question and the person I spoke to did not know the answer. I found my answer in the user reviews on Amazon!

Customer Review: Does everything I need from my alarm clock
Summary: 5 Stars

I have owned the RCR-22 for almost a year now. I wanted an alarm clock with the ability to choose which days the alarm would sound. I didn't want just weekdays or M, W, F. I am easily able to program it once and not have to worry about resetting it unless I need to change the time. It also displays the next alarm time and day so I can always check right before I go to bed if it is set correctly. I love not having to turn my alarm on and off like on older alarm clocks I've owned. Turning it off when I wake up just sets it up to go off for the next set day. It's great!! I haven't overslept yet!

I also like the sleep function that can be set for 60, 45, 30, or 15 minutes of radio to play while you fall asleep. Then it automatically shuts off. I just put it on talk radio and it puts me right to sleep.

I did not by this for sound quality, but I will admit it's mediocre at best when I've plugged my iPod in through the convenient Aux input.

It would be nice if it had the Human Waking System (HWS) for radio, too, not just buzzer mode, but not a big deal. It's all the same to me when I'm getting up at the crack of dawn!

I really like this product and don't see myself looking for a new alarm clock for a long time!

Customer Review: DST can change all it wants with this radio!
Summary: 5 Stars

I got this atomic clock because I wanted to replace my older clock that would automatically adjust to the OLD Daylight Savings Time schedule.
Well, I wasn't disappointed as this radio adjusted to the new schedule with no problem.
The only problem I have is that you have to turn up the brightness on the display during the daytime in order to see the time from across the room. But then at bedtime, the display brightness is then too high and has to be turned down again. A reviewer mentioned that he wished the clock came with a photo sensor (auto dimmer). Now I know what he was talking about.
Every other feature about this radio is great as mentioned by the other reviewers.

Here's some additional info that I don't think has been covered yet:
The atomic signal sensor "capsule" has a 32" extension wire so that you can mount it away from the radio if necessary.
The radio has a 41" external FM antenna wire.
To test the "super capacitor", I unplugged the radio for 3 hours and to my surprise the radio still kept my alarm and tuner settings!

Customer Review: Finally! A clock radio that does it all!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I've been hunting for a new clock radio ever since Congress messed with daylight savings time and my old Emerson became wrong 2x a year. I didn't think I wanted much - just an alarm clock that had 1.) dual alarms 2.) the ability to set the alarms per the day of the week - so it wouldn't make me have to set it Sundays and turn it off on Fridays 3.) a radio that would PICK UP THE STATIONS I LIKE, with decent sound and 4.) a light display that wasn't so bright it kept me awake.

Well, folks - this is it. It has a dial on the bottom letting me set the light to super-dim, our wake-up station (NPR) - which used to fuzz out when we turned on the bathroom light (??) now is crystal clear. I can set an alarm for Monday-Friday, and the radio sounds GREAT! No backup battery, but I unplug it and wait a minute, plug it back in and the capacitor stores my settings - keeps all fine. Couldn't get the Atomic time to work - yet - but everything else is so fab I don't really care whether or not I figure that out. FINALLY!
