Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sandisk Ultra SDHC 4 GB Class 4 Flash Memory Card (SDSDH-4096)

Customer Review: Another SD format and one of the fastest
Summary: 5 Stars

SanDisk has so many versions out there, it is kind of confusing. This is a different Ultra II then the 2GB that were sold last year. This 4GB Ultra II is "SDHC" (Secure Digital High Capacity), which the 2GB was just an SD card. Regular SC cards are more compatible with most digital cameras and memory card readers. "SDHC" card are for the latest cameras and most DSLR, which can be read/write on SDHC card reader only or just the latest card reader.

Compatibility:
This does work fine with my DSLR Nikon D40. I could not get this new SDHC card to read on my 6 month old card Sony's Card reader nor my 2.5 years old Canon PowerShot SD400. But if you use the USB SDHC reader it worked fine and faster.

Performance
Maybe I got an OEM version, but it said it is a class 4 and 15mb/s. I ignore whatever speed SanDisk write, since I never get that performance. My old 2GB Ultra II said 10mb read/9mb write, but I only got like 6.5mb read/ 5mb write. This 4GB said 15mb, but I only get an average of 8mb read (copy) it peaked at 9mb once and is 6-7mb write. A class 4 has minimum of 4mb of write speed, which is true, this is more in line with a class 6. These information is shown on Window's Vista detail pop-up screen when you are copying or writing files.

Overall it is a great price and is one of the fastest performance I got from an SD card. I just had to upgrade for a SDHC card reader.

Customer Review: Simply said - it works and it's a great bang for your buck!
Summary: 5 Stars

I got the card from Amazon, actually from one of the guys that sell thru Amazon. It came in time, well wrapped. I was happy!

Stuck it in my Canon camera - it worked great! A lot of room, super fast.

Stuck it in my computer's media card reader - nothing! Used my old card reader - nothing!

I guess this is the price for getting the new tech stuff - it doesn't always work with your old equipment. Oh, well... I went out to Radioshack and bought a ten bucks card reader for the new era SDHC cards. Now I am officially in and cool!

So, the bottom line is that if you want to use this card in older equpment, such as card readers, cameras and laptops - you might want to use smaller cards of the older kind.

Since I was ready to sacrifice for having a large card - five stars for the product. It does what it promises, no problems as of now.

Customer Review: Great memory card for cameras
Summary: 5 Stars

I've owned smaller sizes of Ultra II memory cards before, so I was specifically looking for the same when I had to get this 4GB one. Works very well and it's very fast, a feature required for newer cameras with 8+ mega pixels. You do not want to wait much for the camera to save one picture before you can take the next. It has the standard SD features like the read-only switch, but make sure your device supports SDHC cards. Anything more than 2GB is considered High Capacity and older devices that do not state specifically that SDHC is supported, will not be able to use this card. The data transfer rate I got with this device was 12.9MB per second, as reported by Ubuntu running on Dell XPS 2.4GHz laptop. I highly recommend Sandisk flash memories over any other brand, and this Ultra II has the speed you need in a camera.

Customer Review: No problem
Summary: 5 Stars

IT came when it was supposed to and does what it is supposed to - Amazon wants you to review things so quickly you don't really get a chance to say anything about longevity or problems. I've bought several of this particualr type and brand latey that I have been using instead of regular S.D.H.D. chips. Not any different from the regular ones except: possibly slightly faster at recording data but that is really a function of how fast your camaera writes. Picture attributes are all the same. So why get this one instead of the regular type? This was same price and I think there is a slight edge on recording time. Over 5 years of using Sandisc cards I've only has one fail (about 1 month ageo) out of 10, and that was when I had fewer so was rotating them through the camera a lot more.

Customer Review: Great Cards for almost Nothing
Summary: 5 Stars

Wow! 4GB Cards for $6 was an amazing deal. It was great to be able to purchase a brand name memory card at a fraction of it's resale price. After having a generic card dump nearly 300 pictures on me, I decided it was time to find cards I could trust. I was expecting to pay loads of money for a fast SanDisk card, but BlueProton delivered with a very high quality card at the lowest price I have seen! I use these for my Nikon D60 and they work perfectly. 4GB is just enough to hold 500 pictures, which is about the max I will use in 1 day, plus that's the life of the battery. I now copy my pictures to my hard drive every night for fear of losing the pictures again, but these cards are great. I will definitely buy these again.
