Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sandisk Extreme USB 2.0 3in1 Card Reader (SDDRX3-3IN1-901, US Retail Package)

Customer Review: FAST!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have been using Sandisk's Extreme CF media for about one year. Now my wife has a 12 Meg camera so also have a 4 Gig Extreme SD card. This matching Extreme reader has a faster data transfer rate than my old Sandisk reader. I had 120 pictures @ ~ 4.9 Meg each (589 Meg total) transfer from the SD card to file in about 2 min and 43 sec. I used MS Scanner and Camera Wizard. Drop n' drag from SD to file was 30 seconds, and drop n' drag from file to SD card was 42 seconds. I am running RAID 10 with Raptors, so file transfer to the HD's will be a bit faster. I highly recommend this reader. Sandisk products have been good to me over the years.

Customer Review: Great card reader!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is my first card reader experience, and so far so good! It does everything it claims to do. I just plugged it in into my USB hub, inserted my SD card and the option appeared on my computer screen to download my pictures. It was that easy! No software to install or anything else like that! It is small enough that it doesn't take a lot of space on your desk. Plus, the size would make it easy to take with you. The price is very reasonable. I would highly recommend this product to anyone. Customer Review: OK so far
Summary: 5 Stars

After reading reviews about it failing to read cards after a while, and having experienced that with other card readers, I was a bit hesitant but really needed a reader with a decent cable length. In the month or so I've been using it, it has failed to immediately sense an SD card a few times, but I believe in all cases it was really because the Mac had been sleeping and was not fully awake yet. I'd remove the card and reinsert it and all was well. I can't remember any failures with the compact flash slot. So I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt in awarding 5 stars. It seems faster than any other readers I've used.

Customer Review: THE reader for those RAW files
Summary: 5 Stars

I started shooting RAW format and quickly fill up the 4 GB cards...that's a lot of data to download. I have been using the Imagemate 12-in-1 and been very happy with it but now I need something a bit faster. This is the reader I was looking for. It is quite attractive, a nice black rubberized square, compact, and fast. Plug it in, download..that easy. I pretty much only use the Sandisk Extreme CF cards so cannot say how it will work on other brands, but it is excellent with the Sandisk brand. This Extreme reader now lives in my camera bag as the small size makes it a great traveller also. Highly recommend.

Customer Review: Works fine
Summary: 5 Stars

We bought this disk reader to use with our regular SanDisk cards. It downloads photos from the cards to the computer in seconds. That is, it's very fast on our WindowsXP computer. But on our older laptop with Win2000, the downloads are quite a bit slower. Still works with the older computer, though. The reader installs easily into a USB port and takes several different sizes of cards (SD/MMC, MSProDuo, CF I/II). It comes with a small format CD of RescuePro software and no instructions, but a 2 year warranty. We have used the reader several times a week for about 2 months and have had no problems with it.
