Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of SanDisk Ultra SDHC 4GB SD Memory Card (SDSDRH-004G-A11, US Retail Package)Customer Review: Good card, but not the fastest in the bunch Summary: 5 Stars
The Sandisk Ultra II SDHC I received is a Class 4 card, not a Class 2. I think the product page is wrong -- either that, or I don't know what happened. Anyhow, SDHC cards come in three classes, according to their speed performance: 2, 4 or 6, 2 being the slowest and 6 the fastest. A class 2 is already faster than a regular SD card. If your device is compatible with SDHC, go for it because the speed difference is noticeable. In my case, the camera writing speed is a lot better than with the SD (but a bit slower than with a class 6). And the convenience of having 4Gb of space in your device is unbeatable! I've had no problems with this card in my new camera, and the card reader that ships with it is a necessity: older card readers can't read SDHC (not even the built-in reader in the laptop I acquired last February can do it). No issues for me between the reader and Windows XP. So far, both the card and the reader have been reliable.
Customer Review: Surprised by Ultra/Ultra II name change but same card Summary: 5 Stars
The Ultra vs Ultra II discrepancy bothered me, too, when I received mine recently. However, after some Googling I found that SanDisk has modified the names on some of their product lines. If you go to their Web site, you'll find there is no longer an SD "Ultra II" card, it is now just the "Ultra", with a redesigned label matching the card sent to me. It still has the same SanDisk part number as before, though (SDSDRH-004G-A11), and the same specs. The label also still indicates it's a Class 4 SD device. As far as I can tell from Web posts (not many), it is only the name that has changed.
This change needs to be noted in the item description/photos so that customers are not confused by it.
When I tested it in my camera the card had no trouble keeping up with continuous video (standard def). Do note that this is an *SDHC* card, so make sure your device is compatible before purchasing it.
Customer Review: This Card Reader is extremely excellent and great value Summary: 5 Stars
The SANDISK Micro Mate card reader is the best money you will spend for a SD card reader that also accepts SDHC cards!
It is pure and simple; to steal a album title from Joan Jett; No cords and it goes in one way into the USB port. It is fast, reliable and durable. I like the tiny green LED indicator. I can not recommend this highly enough.
While my old friend, who repairs camcorders; comments to me about the "compression" on SD cards, I have been using them in 2 different types of cameras for a year now and photography being my profession; I would say that they are a solid cards, also reliable and my images quite good.. BUT I DO NOT BUY THE CHEAPEST CARDS. I try to stick with SanDisk or other top manufactures.
I personally question using a DSLR with SD cards.. I choose to buy a Nikon with CF cards with high write / read speeds, and a fire wire reader.
Customer Review: Lots of storage and value Summary: 5 Stars
I looked at lots of SD cards before settling on the SanDisK Ultra II SDHC 4GB. I have never filled up my first SD card which is a 1GB SD card, but my newest camera is a 12MP compared to my older camera with 7MP and I didn't want to run out of space. I go fishing and camping for days at a time and tend to take dozens of outdoor shots. And when I go to places like Australia or New Zealand I take hundreds. I had never given a thought to the quality of a product like an SD card until I started reading reviews and found too many "one star" reviews of the less expensive SD cards. And more than one reviewer praised SanDisk as a superior quality product. I have only owned this item for a few weeks but it performs flawlessly. I am impressed with the reputation of SanDisk ULTRA SD cards and will probably buy one or two more.
Customer Review: It works as it's designed to work - well Summary: 5 Stars
The product/s works exactly how I want: well, easily, consistently and without problem. The operating system (XP Pro SP2) recognizes the SanDisk (through the MicroMate) immediately and creates a new drive, from which I transfer files to my hard drive. It worked without issue the first time I tried it and every time since. The MicroMate is very portable (barely larger than the SanDisk), making it easy to take with you in case you want to transfer files at another computer somewhere. I haven't used it yet on someone else's computer so I don't know yet how well it'll work elsewhere.
The SanDisk has worked well with my Canon digital camera to record images, erase them or reformat the SanDisk.
I am pleased with this bundle and recommend anyone looking for a card/reader combination to buy this bundle.
