Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of SanDisk Sansa m250 2 GB MP3 Player (Black)Customer Review: Best Value in a flash-based player so far Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased the m260 (4Gb version) from Circut City for $169 As others have said, it's easy to use, very attractively priced, sounds good, and doesn't require any additional software beyond WMP10. Initially, I could not get mine to sync with Napster-to-go on a notebook through a USB1.1 port. Moving to another notebook with USB2.0, Napster syncs fine (Janus not compatable with USB1.1?) I haven't tried Audible yet, but I see there is a firmware update for the m250 to fix the reported Audible bug.
Note - there are two sync settings: MSC and MTP. Use MTP to transfer protected content, then switch to MSC and transfer unprotected content several times faster using Windows Explorer (treats Sansa as a USB drive). Another observation: this player looks strange, until you find yourself holding and operating it single handed. Screen size is small but perfectly adequate. Though it's thicker than other players, it's less noticable in my pocket than a set of keys. The only regret I have is that I've just seen Sansa's forthcoming e200 series (March 06). For the price of an IPod nano, it looks just as attractive but far more capable.
Customer Review: Perfect Player Summary: 5 Stars
I was looking for an mp3 player to use at the gym and on the train, and this one has worked out great.
I am very happy with the equalizer, especialy the ability to create a custom setting with a five-band equalizer, as opposed to being confined to the presets that are often the only settings available. I think this player puts out very good sound. I haven't even tried the included headphones, as I always buy headphones separately.
I also wanted one with an FM tuner, which this has also. It includes digital tuning with presets.
The built-in 2GB, without the ability to use any type of memory card is a slight drawback. I have a different MP3 player that uses cards, and that is a very nice option. I have not filled up this one's memory yet, and I don't think that will be a major drawback for me, as I could always load and unload music that I want for a day or a trip.
The price is great for what was a top-of-the-line type player in its day.
Also note that there IS a protective case included, that is all that I personaly need.
Customer Review: Great entry-level player Summary: 5 Stars
Simple, relatively elegant given its entry level status, and easy to use, the Sansa makes a great gift. It may lack the intuitive ergonomics of the iPod, but it also lacks the PRICE. For that reason this unit is easy to recommend for casual users, those new to mp3 players, or young people (i.e., kids).
The 2GB of storage is too small for a real music aficionado - that works out to only 30 something albums or so, far too little for heavy use - but for most listeners it should suit them fine. Just enough room to keep all their favorites, but not much else. The integrated FM radio will never see any use, but as a writer I found the built-in mic pretty handy to record notes and thoughts on the fly.
Best of all, it's light and sturdy. You can give this to your 10-year-old son or 80-year-old grandmother and not worry about them trashing a fragile and expensive piece of hardware.
After a couple of years in use, mine is still chugging along fine. No complaints. A solid recommendation. GREAT stocking stuffer or way to get your older relative into digital music.
Customer Review: Perfect MP3 player using AAA battery Summary: 5 Stars
I got this player after my Creative Nano Plus got stolen. I need a player which allows me to pop in battery. Those players with built-in battery do not appeal to me, as many a times these battery flat out when you are outdoors.
There are reviews to say that there are noises in the music. This is not true, as music in 128 kb bitrate sounds good to my ears without noises as some people claim.
This player cannot play directly from folders but can playback by categories such as artistes, genre, album, year etc. I am using Windows Media to manage the songs in the player, did not install any software. Making playlist is cumbersome, unlike the Creative Mediasource which is easier.
On the whole, I recommend this player for its low cost and decent sound quality comparable with Creative Nano Plus. I am listening music in custom mode with all settings set at neutral (zero) with a pair of Crossroads Bijou 3, happy with the music so far.
This type of player will soon go extinct as players nowadays come with built-in battery. Grab it now or never.
Customer Review: not a problem Summary: 5 Stars
This is my 1st. Mp3 player. I ordered it because it is one of 4 models left in the world that still use regular batteries.I'am old school 49 yrs.It was time to bury the portable cd player.People want so much, all the bells and whistles with everything they buy, just to break down on them soon after.$$$ down the toilet. All i wanted was something with good sound and 1/8 the size of a CD player.I received this simple as 1,2,3 mp3 player, (I HAVE VISTA)DID NOT have to insert the CD instructions, Just plugged it in the back of the computer, windows media opened up, and I dragged 30 songs(at a time) over to the right download box, and downloaded 420 CD Quality songs from my CD collection that was already on the computer. And of course it will download your mp3 music left in windows media also.I did not worry about a play list.If I didn't want to hear a certain song, I just pressed the forward arrows, or reverse if I wanted to hear it again.Since I only have the songs on there I love to hear at anytime, who needs a play list? The sound is quite loud, and is CD quality.I'am a happy camper!
