Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of SanDisk Sansa m250 2 GB MP3 Player (Black)Customer Review: Best option unless you only listen at home. Summary: 5 Stars
Most of the reviews that I read about this Sandisk player are positive, but a few have me scratching my head.
I haven't had any problems with my player. I had a 512 meg and it is still working fine. This 2 Gig went on sale and I figured that I would get one and put the old one up in case I broke this one.
The only play lists that I use are by genre, or artist, that shows up on the ID3 Tag. I noticed that a great many of my songs didn't have ID3 tags, so I opened up MP3Tag v2.12 (Free - 2.47 is now available) and tagged everything (several hundred songs) just the way I wanted in only a couple of minutes.
As far as using Windows Media player to do anything with this player, my question is why? Why don't people just go to the explorer and copy the songs they want to listen to right onto their player?
I love this thing. It does everything that I knew it would because of my old one working so well. I have all the options for play lists that I will ever need right out of the box. In my opinion, it isn't the player that is causing the problems that most people have, it is how their songs are tagged, or that they are not taking the time to learn how to use the player. Take a few minutes and go through the menu and check it out. It's not as difficult as it seems. Of course others may not be using it as I do so my experiences may be different from yours.
You also need to make sure that your USB input is set correctly to download songs directly through Windows Explorer. Set your USB connection to MSC and it will connect like a little hard drive in Explorer.
The biggest reason that I bought this player is the same reason that I bought the last one, and the Creative Labs before that one - batteries. I will not be caught at the gym or anywhere else with a player that is essentially DEAD if you can't replace the battery. I bought Eneloop batteries and they seem to last longer than the older rechargeable types.
The expensive players may be prettier, and they may have a few more features, but you will be able to laugh at the owners when their battery runs down out in the woods or at the gym and they have to pack it away in the backpack while all you have to do is pop in another battery and continue jamming away. :-)
Customer Review: It's part of my life Summary: 5 Stars
I didn't know if I'd use an MP3 player much when I bought this device and I didn't want to spend too much. I've now owned it for over a year and I cannot live without it. I use it for listening to audio books, news and podcasts. I used to read about 12 - 15 books a year, but now -- because I can take this on walks, listen to it while I'm driving and traveling and doing errands -- I "read" about 50 books a year and have a more active lifestyle. It is easy to download books from Audible, or using the Playfor Sure technology I can download books from my local library. I chose this device over the more expensive iPod and other MP3 devices both for the Play for Sure feature (which means free books from my local library) but also because it uses a single AAA battery so I don't have to lug another charging device when I travel or try to remember to charge it before I go somewhere. I just have to carry a very small extra battery.
It has excellent quality and features for downloading and listening to books including the ability to flip through chapters, easily rewind or fast forward or hook up to speakers when I want to free myself from the earbuds.
I don't worry about damaging it or losing it becaue it's so inexpensive to replace. I don't worry about it getting stolen either. I have dropped it, banged it, gotten it wet, accidentally smeared lotions and cosmetics on it and I just throw it in my purse whereever I go. It's scratched and worn, but it still works like a charm. If I did lose it or break it, I'd probably get one just like it as a replacement because it works so well and 2 megs is plenty to carry 5 or 6 books, a few newscasts and podcasts, even some music.
There are two features I'd like to see on this device and I'd pay extra for them. 1) Bookmark feature so you can save a place (or preferrably multiple places) in a story electronically, and: 2) Sleep timer so the device goes off in a preset time - say 10 - 15 minutes. Given the reliability of this device, I'm confident those features will be available on this device or a similar one by the time I need a replacement.
Customer Review: Little Player that Can Summary: 5 Stars
I have several of the Sandisk Sansa in the style listed here. I know there are many other MP3 players on the market with much more storage capacity and I just have to say POOH on that. This little player is easy to use I have one full of my audible audio books others filled with music and no charged 1 simple triple A battery and I have at least 20 hours of play. For the price it is a great starter for those still unsure of what to buy. Although I do recommend the 2 gig version simply for the storage space.
My only negative comment is that the removal of items from the player isn't always easy it will show you it has been removed but the space won't be open.
Like I said 1 complaint isn't bad at all. The worst thing I have found is I misplace mine a lot:) But that's on me.
Trust me, I bought a very expensive Memorex Mp3 and it was the worst mistake of my life needed to charge constantly and the menu was a nightmare. My parents being parents got me an RCA MP3 for Christmas last year. Like the Memorex since both are charged via USB the battery never stayed charged as it should have.
I do not mind products such as the Sandisk Sansa that use actual batteries. They are reliable and easily replaceable some last several days if I use it a lot. My only wish was I could get one with about a 10 gig HD or better.
This little player has my love it fits all my needs and is easy to use, navigate, load and run. I love Audible and can say easily that I currently have one of my 2 gig Sansa's loaded with 15 unabridged books that is a lot of listening for my money. When I get a chance hopefully I'll be able to pick up a few more I love having these in my life small, portable and I can use it with computer speakers, mp3 speakers and no problem.
So if you are just starting out give this little guy a try:)
Customer Review: I love this thing! Summary: 5 Stars
I love this MP3 player. It's nice to handle, a good size, not bulky or heavy. My elderly mother has the exact same model and even with her arthritic-ridden hands, she is able to operate this with ease. It's not too small and not too big. Perfect size. The BEST thing about this MP3 is that it runs on one triple A battery. No need to worry about not being near anything to recharge it or having to replace expensive recharge batteries, just throw in a new triple A battery from the drugstore and you are good to go. I listen to music and audiobooks all the time- I am a heavy user- and this thing runs for weeks on one battery. I like the plastic case it comes with, mine is over 5 years old and still looks brand new because of the plastic case I never take it out unless I am changing the battery. I love the armband because I can velcro this around my arm, leg, on the strap of my purse or anywhere it will slip through and it's out of the way but with me all the time. It's fairly easy to use, I did not have to use the software cd that was included, I plugged it into my laptop with the USB cable it comes with, and it sync'd itself to my windows media player. It was that simple. I also use the local library software for my audiobooks (overdrive media console) and was very easy to sync it to that as well. I am not that computer saavy so don't ask me how this thing sync'd itself to my laptop. It did. I can delete my books and my music through Windows Media Player and I have approximately 100 songs and 3 audiobooks on this thing right now and it is still only half full. This model apprently has been discontinued but you can still buy it on Amazon.com. I would recommend this to anyone that is not into teeny tiny itsy bitsy electronics, who needs something very uncomplicated and something that will last as long as you take care of it.
Customer Review: This One's A Keeper Summary: 5 Stars
I have quite a bit of experience with mp3 players, because I've had pretty bad luck with them, but the SanDisk Sansa M200 series (I own both the SanDisk Sansa M260 4GB MP3 Player (Blue) and this SanDisk SDMX3-2048 Sansa M250 2 GB MP3 Player (Black)) has proven to be the most reliable and user friendly, hands down. I have *never* had a problem with this series of player, as I have with *all* of the others I have tried in the past, which consistently break down within months. I really like the fact that it is difficult to accidentally press a button and the sync process has always run smoothly. You can pop in another AAA battery when you need to. This is nice because, if you take long road trips like I do and don't always have access to an electrical outlet, you don't have to go without your music. (That's why I don't care for rechargables.) Also, the player is easily reformatted and made "like new" using Windows Media Player. The subscription "PlayForSure" option works well (I've only tested it with Napster To Go on my Media Center 2005 Edition PC using Windows Media Player 11).
I've been using this series for about 1-1/2 years. There are also SanDisk Sansa M230 512 MB MP3 Player (Blue) and SanDisk Sansa M240 1 GB MP3 Player (Silver) versions, which I have not tried. This product is very well made. If I could give it 10 stars, I would. I highly recommend it.
