Summary: 5 Stars I bought this mp3 player about four years ago, and it's still going strong. I love it. I use it at work, and I feel very smug around my co-workers who can only listen to their players for a few hours before the charge runs down and it becomes unusable. It goes a bit like this... Me: Hey Joe, how long does the charge on your mp3 player last? Joe: About four hours. Me: So, then it doesn't even last for the entire shift and you must go home to charge it on your computer? Joe: Yes, that's right. Me: One little AAA battery on mine lasts for days, and I can carry a spare so I never have to go without my music. Hah! ;) It's easy to use, you don't even have to be looking at it to turn on/off, change songs, etc. About a year ago I bought a fancier mp3/video player with more memory and I hardly ever use it (touch screen is a pain, and having to constantly plug it into the computer to recharge is too inconvenient). The only downside to my Sansa is the small amount of memory. Since I listen to music for many hours a day and get bored with the same songs, I'm now in the market for another mp3 player. I love this Sansa so much that I'll probably buy another one, either this model again (2 players will double my songs) or one with more memory.

Customer Review: Great basic player, fantastic price
Summary: 5 Stars

I have had many MP3 players (portable, car, home) dating back to the "original" $200 Rio player. The Sandisk M230 replaced a similar player I was using before misplaing it (the former made by Creative Labs). I had previously purchased and configured a similar SanDisk player as a gift.

I can say that the SanDisk is rock steady in its mp3 file handling and navigation. The fast-forward/rewind feature (within a track) works very well and is an important feature when listening to audio books where a single track can easily be longer than 20 minutes. I also find the sleep function to be very useful in preserving battery life (I often drift to sleep listening to a book). Sound quality is very good for a portable player. The ability to drag-and-drop songs using Windows File Explorer is also a great thing -- much nicer than being forced to use a custom interface (this means you, iTunes). Finally, I tend to rip tracks at variable bitrates and my audio books at a non-standard sampling rate -- the SanDisk has handled all of my tracks without issue (so far). This is a great player for the current price (about half the price of a single new audio book and free shipping to boot).

Customer Review: Great MP3 player for a great price!

I bought this to give to my mother for her birthday. I am downloading songs so she won't have to. I found it pretty easy to figure out how to download songs. She is not very computer literate. I think she will be able to operate this player quite easily. The buttons are very easy to operate. I like that it has an FM receiver so if you are tired of listening to the songs you have downloaded, you can just switch to the radio. And the fact that it has a voice recorder is a great plus. I figure she can use it while on her morning walk and if she needs to remind herself to pick up something from the store she can just make a quick voice memo for herself. The blue backlight is really neat. It includes a case and an armband--usually not included in other MP3's. A great little MP3 for a great price!

**UPDATE**My mom LOVES this MP3 player! I was a little worried about giving it to her, as she has never owned one, but I can't get it out of her hands! She thinks it is easy to operate---this coming from a woman who doesn't know how to operate a VCR or DVD player!!! She is amazed at the sound quality of the headphones, too. This has been her most favorite birthday gift ever!

Customer Review: Works Great for Me - Lots of Features!
Summary: 5 Stars

I've been using this mp3 player for about one month now. It is working great for me.

It is very easy to transfer mp3s to the device. Battery life is great on one AAA battery. It's quite small and easily fits in your pocket. Controls are intuitive.

It sounds quite good and includes 5 EQ settings like Rock plus a customizable setting. I tried my larger over-the-ear headphones to see if the player could adequately power them, and while I had to turn the volume up more than I would for the included earbuds, it did power the large headphones surprisingly well.

I really like that it has an FM tuner too. It's not incredibly strong, but it has worked for me for stations I listen to. Yet another feature of this litte player is that it has a microphone built in. You can use it to record notes to yourself like a dictation recorder.

Storage capacity isn't awesome, but it's fine for me since I only use it for working out and on airplanes. I encode mp3s at 192 and I can usually fit between 6-8 full albums depending.

For a measly $[...], this player is a heck of a deal.
