Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of SanDisk Sansa c250 2 GB MP3 Player (Black)

Customer Review: Sansa C250
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought a couple refurbished C250's as gifts. I ended up having an extra one that I kept for myself. At first I was really excited because I could add a microSD card to increase the space, so I bought an 8gb stick to put in it. Unfortunately though, the C250 did not accept the 8gb stick. So after some searching I found a software update that changed from the Sansa software to something called RockBox. After putting the new software on, it has a completely different look and user-interface, but the best part is now it takes an 8gb stick making it a 10gb MP3 player!! After updating to the RockBox software I have absolutely loved this device, even more than my 120gb Zune; because of the new software it does so much more than what the C250 did before and the software makes it even better and more powerful (in terms of playlists and other uses) than my 120gb Zune. Overall, its a great player even if you don't put RockBox on it, but gets even better with the new software. Please note, I do not know if adding the RockBox software will void your Sansa warranty so check into that. Oh and battery life for me was on a full charge just over 14 hours of playback at nearly max volume, great for a little player like this; and if you're worried about the battery life buy another battery for $10 from Amazon.

Customer Review: I Love My lil Monsta
Summary: 5 Stars

I've had my Sansa for about a month now and I loved it from the start. I've been looking for cons and the only one I've got so far is that there aren't more color choices or stylish "jackets". All I wanted was a simple MP3 player, but I immediately started dropping pics on it and doing little recordings (soon to be podcasts). I don't use the radio, but all the other features are great. And it is the easiest thing to use, even if you use Windows Media Player. Before I bought it, I had doubts about the screen contrast (which I can understand people's complaints, but hasn't been a problem for me at all), and the reliability. I compared it to the MP3 player benchmark(the ipod)and other players, and I found similar problems with all of them, which I'm guessing are pretty standard possibilities across the board. And since mine had no problems playing anything (and I download some seriously poor quality MP3s-from indie bands around the world) I believe there are more user errors than anything. I could go on an anti-ipod rant here or go off on the proprietary nature of Apple Computers, but simply said PCs work best with PC products and how can you beat the price!!! This is the best player out there for under $100 (hell for under $300) and for 20 bucks you can expand it to four GBs!!

Customer Review: Sandisk is the Ipod Killah!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I actually purchased this for a friend... but I do own the Sansa E260 4 gig and a 30 gig ipod video... and let me say that sandisk is on the right track... besides all the other little gimmicks (fm radio & voice recorder)... I think their superior to the ipod... for the simple reason if you don't have an apple they're way easier to use... just plug it in and drag and drop... or you can just drop tracks into windows media player and click sync and off you go... ipod's are really nice don't get me wrong... I use mine all the time... my girl uses my sansa... but they're so difficult in comparison... and I'm pretty tech savy... the biggest problem I have with the ipod is that you can't just add songs.. you have to take them into a program then sync all the songs... I had the misfortune of clickin the just add recent songs and it delete all 14 gigs of the other music I had on there... never had that problem with the sandisk products... also if you have the E200 they play ALL video formats... you just drop them into the converter and it's on there... don't even let me start on getting video on an ipod... the only complaint I have is they don't make larger ones... I want to see a 80 gig sandisk... if one comes out... I'm pawning my ipod for sure!!

Customer Review: What a great buy... I love it!

Don't waste your money on an iPod! This little baby is all the MP3 player you need. The sound is excellent... use the EQ settings to get a perfect fit for your ears, or customize your own setting. The headphones included with he player are okay but not great; I upgraded to a Sony pair and it now sounds even better. The FM radio reception is as good as I've seen. In my office building radio stations are hard to tune in, but I can get my favorites using this. Battery life is pretty good... I use it for hours every weekday at work and only have to charge it about once per week. The picture viewer is adequate, but I've rarely used it. By far my favorite feature is the Micro SD card reader, which makes the memory virtually unlimited. If 2 GB isn't enough storage space for you, buy a few Micro SD cards and carry those with you. I have several stocked with different music... one for jazz, one for oldies, etc... and I just swap them in and out depending on what mood I'm in. (You can find them online for about $12 for 1 GB, maybe even cheaper.) This player gives you TONS of value for the money, unlike those rip-off iPods. I highly recommend it!

Customer Review: Beware of Reviews --- Here's a Review
Summary: 5 Stars

After looking at Zunes and iPods, I got a major league headache. Neither of these units seem to do everything that they should for the high price tag and all of the hype. Clearly, Micro$oft and Apple are getting way too big for their britches. Still, they'll probably make the definitive moble media player in 10 to 12 generations and it will probably be fairly priced. In the meantime, SanDisk makes this little gem. It doesn't do everything, it just does what it needs to do --- which is to play mp3s. No hype, no crazy price tag, easy as pie to use (drag and drop), good sound quality (use decent headphones), good screen/picture for what it should be used for (identifying song titles), compact size (like a pack of Double Mint gum), light as a feather, and just a hint of coolness (you can even configure the EQ to your specifications and not just to a preset like Zune and iPod). As others have said, it's the best mp3 player for the money --- and you can still look up Zune's and iPod's later generations for hopefully a more complete solution --- after all you won't be broke (or committed to the Zune Marketplace or iTunes).
