Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of SanDisk Sansa Fuze 4 GB Video MP3 Player (Black)Customer Review: Great Experience from Sansa......Fianlly! Summary: 5 Stars
This review is for this particular Fuze, and although I talk about other Sansa products before this one, this review does not reflect their performance.
I bought a Clip+ initally, and it died after about two hours use. I then bought one of these refurbished Fuze's and my computer wouldn't recognize it. Strike two. I exchanged that Fuze for the refurbished unit I'm writing about here, and I have to say I'm glad I did. This one is turning out to be quite the little player. My daughter has an iThingy (you know....) and to be honest, this is every bit the unit hers is and more. She may have 180 gig, but doesn't use anywhere near that much memory. But she's forced to pay more for her music and get it from one source and paid a bunch more for just her unit. By contrast, this unit's a lot cheaper, I can go to many, many sources for my music, my computer recognizes it just like any other drive, it's a snap to use (I haven't looked at the users guide yet), and the sound is fantastic when hooked to my Klipsch headphones.
The price was right.
The product is right.
The service was right.
The quality is right.
The features/benefits are right.
The sound is awesome.
Giving this little gem five stars is a no brainer so my wife now has given up her $160.00 iThingy for one of these so she no longer is forced to get her music from one source. And she's just as pleased with hers as I am mine. Sansa knocked it out of the park as far as we're concerned!
Customer Review: Product description Summary: 5 Stars
The sansa fuze is a great mp4 easy to use, comfortable in your hand, and has great features:
Music
Audio book
Videos
Photos
Fm radio/ record
Voice record
Date & time
30 languages
The screen is very high quality, colors look vibrant, but unfortunately it's hard to see in bright sunlight.
There are many options to play your music, for example by Artists, by my top rated,
by Albums.
You can watch a slideshow & play your music at the same time.
There are 3 ways to choose a video: alphabetically, my top rated, video bookmarks.
You can also resume playback on a video.
When you record you have to speak loudly, and press the button about 1 second before you actually start recording.
The battery lasts about 24hours when listening to music, if watching videos or looking at pictures the battery lasts 4-5 hours.
I have the sansa fuze for 7months and I'm happy with a lot of the features, for example the sound is very good, and the sansa fuze is thin and comfortable in my hand. But there is one down side the short battery life while watching videos.
All my friends like it, and one liked it so much that he bought it the next week.
overall it's a great gadget, and I would highly recommend the sansa Fuze to anyone looking for a low-cost small media device.
Customer Review: Sansa Fuse 4 G Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this player to be able to download audio books from my library. I had some difficulty doing this, but did eventually accomplish it. I had to download Overdrive software and use that in combination with the sansa software. First I had to download a book to my computer, then plug in the Sansa & use its software to sync with the computer to get the book on the sansa. For anyone who loves audio books, but doesn't want the expense of buying them just to listen to them once, check with your library. This is a great way to hear audio books for free. You get them for 21 days, like checking out a book. I also love the FM radio option and am looking forward to getting a slot Radio card of oldies songs. I haven't used the recording feature yet, but I tested it & it works perfectly. The earbuds are the first ones I've ever got with a device that actually stay in my ears without falling out. The sound is good.
If anyone orders the accessories & gets that weird little belt clip with absolutely no directions on how it works, here's a clue: the little round part that attaches to the back of the sansa case comes off by UNSCREWING it. I tried everything I could think of to get it apart, including prying with a screwdriver, which broke half of it off and stabbed my finger. Fortunately, the clip still works, even with half of it broken off. I wish they would send directions with this stuff on how it works. Not all of us innately know.
Customer Review: Rival to the IPod Summary: 5 Stars
Physical:
The Fuze is just weighty enough to make it feel right. The controls are responsive and non-flimsy feeling. Even putting too much pressure on the case, it doesn't seem like its going to break. The screen is clear and very bright. The front part of the case is shiny and sometimes gets finger prints while the back is rubberized for grip.
Compatibility:
I bought mine to work with Ford (Microsoft) Sync in a model year 2011 vehicle. Connected to the car's USB port, the Fuze works perfectly - even charging while connected. I can access all the music from the car's stereo. No problems with it showing up when running GNU/Linux (Debian with 2.6.32-5-amd64). The only minus is that Sync doesn't yet support Ogg music (maybe a firmware update will fix this), while the Fuze does support Ogg music.
Syncing:
I switched the Fuze to show up as a mass storage device (MSC USB mode), then I put music in the MUSIC folder with a file manager. It also seems to work with Amarok (v2.3.1) in the (MTP USB mode).
Summary:
A big plus is that while it may be inspired by the iPod, its not an iPod. I don't like the Apple dependence on iTunes. The Fuze's support of MSC mode, expansion slot, Ogg and MP3 music support and non-dependence on iTunes all put it a step above the iPod for my needs.
Firmware version:
V02.03.33A
Customer Review: A lot of bang for little buck Summary: 5 Stars
I bought my Sansa Fuse last summer because of 3 reasons and this product has exceeded my expectations after reading the negative reviews that people left for it.
1) This Sansa is part of the Playsforsure family that plug directly into Windows Media Player. While I do hate that Microsoft is trying to build themselves a monopoly it makes this little guy so easy to use. I take my music, podcasts, or whatever open media player and drag and drop them into my Sansa. The entire process takes less than a minute. Friends who own iPods will say that is the one thing they hate about iPod is that all of your files have to be converted, then loaded. While the Sansa Fuse it could not be easier. You can also edit or delete files within it through media player without having to do it through the Sansa itself.
2) It has a radio built it. I bought this Sansa with the intention of listening to the news as I peddled home from work each day. The tuner works fine and is a nice add-on that a lot of other mp3 players don't have.
3) It's cheap: For $[...] bucks I wasn't expecting a lot when I got this but it is well worth that cost. The hard case and portable charger are great additions for little to nothing extra. The only thing I haven't invested in is the memory card that will double the space from 4 to 8gigs.
