Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of SanDisk SDSDH-1024-901 1 GB Ultra II Secure Digital Memory Card (Retail Package)Customer Review: Great card, great price Summary: 5 Stars
No need to format it, you just pop it into your camera and it's ready to go. Well, for the Canon SD400, that is. I've talked to some of my computer geek friends about the 1G vs. 2 512mb business and they've told me that it's a ridiculous argument, it's really your preference but 1G is probably preferable. You have more space in one sitting if you will, and can take plenty of pics without having to worry about fumbling with another tiny card in the middle of a photo op. They also told me that the Ultra II was ideal for my camera.
I even had some problems with UPS re-routing my package (since it had to be signed for and I wasn't home to do that), they seemed to be holding it hostage on the other side of the city and after 4 consecutive days of being promised it was in the system and would arrive to me, I had no luck (or patience). I still don't know where it is! Amazon was quick to resolve the problem and send me another card directly to my business address. 5 stars for the card and amazon, -5 for UPS's (lack of) service.
Customer Review: Reliable memory, excellent speed Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this card nearly two years ago, and have never been disappointed with it. The one issue I had was after wiping it clean, there was about 160MB of storage space that appeared on the card to be full. I defragmented the card (available in properties), and saw all kinds of files being moved on the card. They were from another camera in which I'd tested the card to show it's speed, and oddly enough they didn't disappear when I deleted them (I wish I remembered the make and model of that camera). I formatted the card, and all the space came back. (Be certain that you have everything you need off your card before you format it!)
It's been to eastern Europe and back, and it has never missed a beat. Even when it had a portion that was inaccessible, the remainder of the memory worked no problem. I'm very happy with this card, which I originally purchased for my Panasonic DMC-FZ7 digital camera. I have not been disappointed!
Customer Review: Your Pictures Are Worth A Name-Brand Card Summary: 5 Stars
I have always had great luck with SanDisk products, and this is no exception. I probably should have gone with a larger capacity card, but the price was too good to pass up. These SanDisk Ultra II cards also download extremely fast.
Since all flash-type memory has a finite lifespan of read/write cycles (somewhere around 100,000), it is worth it to spend the money on a quality card. When you write data (like photos) to a low-end card, it fills up like a glass of water - from one end to the other and erases it in much the same way, constantly writing to the same portion of the card first. Higher-end cards randomize where they write the data to, thus spreading the read/write cycles over the entire card and lengthening its usable life.
(The SanDisk 'Ultra' II is a model, while 'Ultra' is a low end manufacturer.)
Customer Review: Great for digital video Summary: 5 Stars
I got the Ultra II 512MB originally with my new digital camera
and was pleased with the downloading speed. However, after
using the video (movie) features of the new Nikon Coolpix 5900
I soon found 512MB was not enough space, and bought this 1 GB
card. Same outstanding recovery speed and now I can shoot much
longer movies before having to unload to the laptop. This extra
space came in real handy on a recent trip to Las Vegas where the
Coolpix excells in night video and the lights of the Vegas strip
at night are a must to record.
The Ultra II gives you fast recovery speed from shot to shot and
you avoid missing shots while waiting for the card to compile
the last shot. If you use the movie funtion of your camera, I
recommend a 1GB size card.
Customer Review: Excellent card for an excellent price Summary: 5 Stars
After buying this card 2 years ago I had no hesitation buying another. I've used it with my Dell Axim x50v for 2 years and it has worked flawlessly. Very fast speeds when transferring to and from the axim as well as on my laptop. I only truly realized the quality of this card when I attempted to use a Viking card last year on a tomtom one sat nav. I had mega problems transferring maps to the Viking card on my laptop and the tomtom device had difficulty reading it also. As soon as I popped the Sandisk card in, the maps copied without a hitch and the tomtom device worked perfectly since. I've recommended this card to my friends since and they're all very pleased with it. Great product and guaranteed safe buy - well worth the price.
